Pitbull - Pearly Gates

Pitbull
Artist:Pitbull
Title:Pearly Gates
Producer: DJ Noodles & Jim Jonsin
Album:Rebelution (iTunes Bonus Track)
Label:PoloGrounds/J/Mr. 305 Inc.
Twitter:Pitbull on Twitter
Website:Pitbull's Website

Are y’all going to revoke my hip-hop pass because I immediately knew that the sample from Pitbull’s new track Pearly Gates was from DJ Sammy’s 2002 hit Heaven, which is itself a cover of Bryan Adams’ 1983 track of the same name? Let’s move on before I embarrass myself further. The important thing to know is that months after the unstoppable Pitbull dropped Rebelution the album’s still going strong, and now he’s considering releasing Pearly Gates, which was previously only found on the international version of the album, as a U.S. single. Produced by DJ Noodles and Jim Jonsin and featuring model/singer Nayer, Pearly Gates is much more romantic track than we’re used to from Pit, with the Cubano rapper for once focusing on a lady’s interior instead of posterior. All that means it will either be a smash hit or a disappointment to hardcore fans. So how about it Booth? Is Pearly Gates new single material? Let us know.

Its decent enough, the producton is alright & the lyrics are good. Though I really dont like the hook since im not a fan of the song that got sampled.

It wont be as big of a hit as Calle Ouche & Hotel Room Service, though it should get some spins on the radio.

3.5

Wow I was really impressed with this. Here's my take on it. Pitbull is always right at home with "Calle Ocho" and "Hotel Room Service" type songs, but I like these types of tracks from him the best ("Across The World" was a similar track, and I just like smooth music better). Production was real nice and that hook just sounded great. Pitbull sounded right at home. I like this a lot.

Pitbull & Jim Jonsin have great chemistry together. Pitbull is one of the only artists that im not annoyed with when their last singles sounds similar to their new ones.
'Heaven' is one of my favorite club tracks, so im glad Pit has put a new spin on an already fire track!
This should get eaten up by radio and in the club! FIRE!

Radio track, just what I expected, and also really unorigibal, no real effort to bring the original instrumental to another level. Just seems like he's ridin off the original's great production. I'm not impressed.

This is hot, when I read that this is a romantic track, I was PRAYING it was as good as "Secret Admirer". This is more of a club track though.

Pitbull and Jim Jonsin is a top notch duo. one of the best in hip hop. they r the club version of Dream/Tricky.

i never really liked the orig version of the sample song, but Pitbull makes it work here. i think the beat is wat really sets this off.

Hands down, my favorite track from Pitbull in '09. I was badly fiending for the full mastered version of the track, and was so happy to see it surfaced on net just in time for NYE.

Within two days of me handing out this song to all my DJ friends (who rely on my taste in Hip-Hop), it has become one of the most requested tracks on their individual sets.

Oh, and I own Bryan Adams' self-titled (1980) debut solo album on a Cassette Tape, a rare collector's item to have, at least in India.

This is going to reveal me to be the shallow, booty-loving person I am, but I like Pit a lot better when he's going harder, just can't get into the more romantic vibe. Still, I have to give him his due, this one could be radio gold.

Oh, and thanks to Mr.Top Hat for letting me know I'm not the only one who knows Bryan Adams.

Pitbull knows exactly how to sell records, and that is all he does. This is no exception, and he seems to really be stepping his game up. I would never listen to this outside of a club, but "when in rome"...

When i fist heard Dj Sammy's trance version i immediately loved that song from the start!! Great beat and sample but this is slightly below it in the fact that the "original" is better!!
Don't get me wrong radio will eat this up!!

Thanx PattyPatty85! I wanted a woman to say it. That closes any sexist accusation. the song is just corny, and Pitbull is such a mercenary it hurts. What is exactly his talent?

ok, he took the classic on.

Not bad sample he mixed in his own track.

Could go either way: good or bad

I'll stick with good before I change my mind.

I really agree @The149th. If anyone wants to hear how a song called Pearly Gates should sound, go listen to Freddie Gibbs' cut off The Labels Tryin' to Kill Me.
