The pharmacist is developing a formula aimed at curing what ails hip-hop. After dropping off mixtapes The Prescription, The Refill and The Overdose, rapper Pill is gearing up for his Warner Bros. debut album, The Medicine. Known primarily for street anthems like Trap Goin’ Ham and On Da Korner, which elevated Pill to XXL’s 2010 Freshmen list, the ATL native’s motivational style on his new single Blow Up (not to be confused with J. Cole’s song of the same name) could be considered a change of pace.  For Blow Up’s hook Pill teams up with I.Y.A.Z. (he of Replay fame) and the singer crafts an infectious and uplifting chorus that will have even your grandmother singing in the shower; not that we want to picture that. Coming in on production is Iyaz’ Beluga Heights boss J.R. Rotem, who once again shows his Top 10 single touch with a lighter beat that Pill ices with rapid-fire lyrics reflecting on the struggles he’s faced. Will Pill’s mixture of the street and radio-friendly styles add up to a concoction that earns The Medicine a solid release date from Warner Bros.? That, DJBooth nation, is up to you.

I get why they made this record, but it seems like a stretch for Pill. This is a blatent attempt at radio play for an artist, who while talented, isn't an artist I feel that very many music directors will embrace (which is sad). I could be wrong here, but I doubt this will be the single that makes P I Double L a household name.

the production is surprisingly and doesn't impress me.(do better JR) But Pill is my dude, i support his music but i think this would have been better if this was IYAZ ft pill instead of vice versa it just doesn't seem like the right fit for pill.

This song is good, but, I don't see this as a club hit. This song is still fresh though

i guess im in the minority here but this is DOPE im really feelin the production and pills flow is nice. IYAZ does a good job on the chorus for the most part and the last verse is murder. this probably wont put pill on the map like it was maybe meant to but it will be playing on my ipod consistently

Its decent, but the production was mediocre and the vibe just wasn't cutting it. I understand they're trying to find a way to market Pill to mainstream, however this is a generic rags to riches single that while decent, doesn't quite capture the rawness that Pill possess and doesn't truly inspire like it should. I agree with Shamir that it should be a Iyaz song featuring Pill. Still like Pill though, he's nice.

Sub-par production from J.R and lyrics from Pill, 'Nice' hook from IYAZ... This record tries so hard to be catchy that it is ultimately forgettable.

This is what many consider as an average song but I really like how the message of the song is put into lyrics...Even though many artists try the same, most of them fail...If you ask me this is a standout track!

Iyaz comes through with an amazing chorus and Pill was pretty good (heard better from him), but definitely not a club/radio hit
