As alluring as absolute power undoubtedly is, a look at history shows that the life of a monarch isn’t all that enviable; combined with the colossal responsibilities that come with sovereignty, the machinations of jealous relations and treacherous courtiers are enough to make one lose one’s head… often literally. Of course, when Phonte and his crew claim to be living The Life of Kings on the Little Brother alum’s latest LP leak, they’re talking about something slightly different. Over 9th Wonder‘s twinkling soul loops, the N.C. representative, celebrates the simplicity and security of the Southern life, contentedly sighing “Peace of mind’s a delightful thing.” Despite hailing from the bustling metropolis of L.A., Evidence seconds that emotion, spitting about the simple pleasures of family life on the middle, Booth fave Big K.R.I.T. channels a different sort of King on his clever closing 16: “I’m the type of King you’d prolly see Coretta with / Country-bred, country-raised and intelligent.” In addition to picking up the headliner’s debut solo set, Charity Starts at Home, when it drops Sept. 27, fans should keep it locked for the latest on Evidence’s Cats & Dogs LP (coming September 27 via DJBooth) and K.R.I.T.‘s Def Jam debut (pushed back to 2012).

This was near perfect. Best lyrics I've heard in a while, and the production was on point.

i give this track a 3star only because of the production and big krit. phonte and the other dude was kinda weak on the track big krit really came in on the 3rd verse and made this a solid track. should have been a beat he (big krit) flowed to from beginning to end.
