I know what you’re thinking: “DMV phenom Phil Adé, jumping on the text-lingo bandwagon? What is this world coming to?! :-( :-( :-(“ Calm down, calm down - making its world premiere in the Booth, the exclusive freestyle alum‘s latest mixtape leak is so far from what the title would lead you to expect that it just might make you say, “OMG!” For starters, there’s nary a synth to be found in DopeSunny‘s production; instead, the beatsmith opts for chromatic brass samples and gritty percussion. On the lyrical tip, Phil passes up the obvious technology-themed puns in favor of fresh, polysyllabically-rhymed braggadocio (“I finally got my chance at the game, I’mma lock it up / so far ahead, I’m a dot in binoculars.”) and Rap-Up emcee Skillz follows suit, bombarding sucker emcees with diss after ingenious diss. I’d ask y’all how Ade’s OMG stacks up against the reader-approved Usher single and the reader-detested Kat DeLuna track that share its name, but this lyrically-driven cut is so different I’m not sure you could even make the comparison. In any case, those digging it will most definitely want to check out Phil’s OkayPlayer/DJBooth.net-sponsored The Letterman mixtape when it drops July 6.

If you're a regular at DJBooth.net than you probably know by now that we co-sign artists that we really, truly believe in. Case in point - Phil Adé. For several years we have stuck by our prediction that the DMV native is on the verge of blowing up and I think he'll prove us right with the release of "The Letterman" on July 6.

If you want a taste of the banging production, dope lyricism, and quality feature selections off the project, you need look no further than "OMG".

Trust us - have we ever let you down?

For starters, I definitely like this more than Usher's track of the same name. Laced up with a pretty street ready beat by Dope Sunny this track could have a shot at success, but it didn't sit too well with me. Both emcees were lyrically good and the overall end result was good... not amazing.

Damn people are sleeping on Ade's lyrical ability. I'll be honest, you have to hear this at least two times to pick up all the punchlines: "Cause I can't leave the game...Brett Farve."

And for the record, that "Oh, my, god" sample is from "Baby Got Back", right? Can I get some confirmation?

He went from sounding like Drake to sounding like Weezy in the same song.

It really a cool joint though Give Phil Ade props. It's very different but hot. I don't see him getting on Billboard's Top 100 with this one but nice track. 3.5

On three Pioneer 12's and 2700 watts this banger goes hard in the beat department. Phil as always goes sniper rifle sick.
