This past March, alongside fellow Houston rap veterans Chamillionaire and Lil’ Keke, Paul Wall left his Diamonds Exposed inside our DJBooth. Despite the group effort with his former partner-in-rhyme-turned-rival, the song didn’t pique any national interest and never was pushed forward as Wall’s official first single. Several months later, however, Wall has put the finishing touches on his forthcoming release, The Fast Life, which includes the new, Akon-featured and produced single, Girl On Fire. In typical Konvict fashion, the record has club appeal, an easy-to-remember call-out hook, and radio-ready catchiness. The Fast Life, Wall’s third major studio album, will be released later this year courtesy of Swishahouse and Asylum.
I always liked Paul Wall's flow, I think that's why he's still around in the game. Lyrically, he's always been whack, but that's ok when it comes to club bangers. Akon delivers like always! I love his energy! The chorus is very catchy, I think this song will do well in the clubs among the drunken folks lol.
Paul Wall did a pretty good job of keeping up with the beat. A good club banger type of song, but probably not something I'd bump on the everyday basis.
I think this production is real unoriginal. The feel of the track will really cheesy and tacky. I've heard better, original songs from Paul Wall. This is only OK.
This is a random collabo, Akon and Paul Wall? He must have put up big money to get an Akon beat/feature, however I'm not really feelin it. Although I dont like the whole Texas movement of hip hop, I do respect it and this is selling out of Walls Houston roots. At least get a better produced track for your money. This one is just not very hot, a pretty bad attempt at a radio smash.
paul walls delivery is refreshing but akons voice for the main part of the hook sounds disgusting. but with the amount of money of money tat was spet on this song it HAS to be released as a single. No choice.
akon sounds like he's holding his nose and a club song from paul wall??? its like WHAT?? I mean its a breath of fresh air from all his watered down TEXAS style..don't get me wrong I live in DALLAS but he needed to switch the style up and im not talkin bout puttin out songs for chicks..its aight a new sound so I salute that but overall its -average- nothin SPECTACULAR
LIke Cb I'm not a big fan of the Texas style...I always liked Paul WAll but now that i think about it, i dont know why!? Lyrically he's weak, his delivery is the same on ever song...I think i'm getting tired of Akon being on 80% of all songs hahaha anyways...i guess its in rotation for everyone else to listen and be the judge
Lol @ the pic...I fell in love with Paul's teeth, they are original! Anyway in the first minute I thought this was a banger, but then I donwsized my enthusiastic opinion...it's in rotation coz it's catchy and will go in the clubs I guess, but it's also kinda silly. Same thing of Carl Henry's song! The best part here is Akon's hook, really melodic
I thought this would sound stupid and honestly I am not wrong in way shape or form after listening to it. This seems like a Pitbull song and Akon is too hit or miss.
this track is fire, the beat is crazy. i'm always turned off by Akon it's because of his voice! but i'll have to look out for this song because i do like Paul Wall, his flow is serious.
Did i really just see a girl that said she was turned off by Akon's voice?!?! LOL!!, first one i've met haha, Heyyyy Patty, like that "Konviccttt Muzikkk"? haha =P
and BaBii Boi, Akon isn't overplayed! LMAO!! Now that's about the funniest thing i've seen someone comment in a longggg time lmfao, and for the first time i'm saying this, i don't really like Akon's voice on the chorus, it sounds like he's using a voicebox or something crazy, can't point it out, but one things for sure, Paul Wall and Akon, dont mix, Paul never has been on my radar cause he hasn't ever really made a hit or anything in my opinion.. his flow is NOT serious, but props to him trying to switch up his style i guess. and just to make it clear again to BaBii Boi, Akon is NOT overplayed at all..
Man, Swishahouse needs to push Lil Keke. Hopefully his album comes out on the expected day November 18. I also heard he has an album before the album type of @*#$! coming out soon. DJ Z,you need to holler at him for an interview. Back to this song, its purpose is strictly for club use. 2.5/5.
How many guest features has Akon been on in the last month? I say this song is just average like a 2.5. At least Paul Wall's knows his limitations thats why he always needs a Colby O' or a Akon type to make his song work. The lyrics are average and the beat sounds generic but this could get some plays in the club. Im not diggin it dat much though
J.P., Paul is my friend. I can get him inside the DJBooth for an interview any day or night. Hit me with some questions and we'll make it happen next month!
LIKE THE BEAT REMIND ME OF DANGEROUS THOU IAM I RITE OR WAT EITHER WAY ITS NICE I LIKE IT DIFFERENT SOUND FOR PAUL WALL LIKE IT BUT AKON NEEDS TO STOP DOING THE T-PAIN AND WEEZY THING BY THAT I MEAN HE NEEDS TO STOP GETTING ON EVERY BODY'S TRACK TO GET MORE EXPOSURE FOR HIMSELF YOU NO WHAT I MEAN
idk akon keeps doin his thing .... its crazy ..... some good some bad .... this one could grow on me but yeah its kinda catchy in rot .... oh and paul was alright
LOLOL!! this is NOT the Paul Wall I know! They should replace him with Bubba Sparxxx on this track! I won't be surprised if Paul's career tanks after this one
Is it just me or do you guys find you almost know what the song is going to sound like even before you listen to it when you see "Feat Akon" Starting to get a little repetitive.....
THE GIRL I LIKE IS ON FIRE! NIKKI'S ON FIRE SHE'S HOT HOT HOT!IF U READ THIS NIKKI I MEAN IT! SO STOP,DROP,AND ROLL!
LIKE I SAID U ON FIRE U HOT HOT! LUV UR BOY $C-MONEY$
HA! HA! $CHA-CHING$
I've never heard Paul Wall rap with this kind of flow before. Maybe because most of the songs he makes are Houston style that are really slow. He should make more songs like this because this songs is sick and Akon can also seem to always make a hit. I really like him on this track.
