Paul Lowe - Take You to Mars
Artist: Paul Lowe
Producer: The TrackSlayerz
Album: Good or Evil? Mixtape
Label: Unsigned
To me, the forbidding climate of the Red Planet doesn’t exactly scream “romantic.” Paul Lowe, Jr., however, is a more adventurous man than I. On his first Booth feature, inaugural mixtape leak Take You to Mars, the rising R&B star and a lucky lady boldly go where no couple has gone before, on a mission to break through the final sexual frontier and become the first inductees into the 78 Million Mile-High Club. TrackSlayerz, the production crew behind T.I.‘s I’m Back, provide an appropriately spacey yet steamy instrumental accompaniment, pairing synth arpeggios with reverb-drenched guitar riffs as Lowe delivers his Auto-Tune-assisted account of interplanetary intercourse. Emcees Chachi Carvalho and FLY-C handle guest duties, stepping up to the mic to detail their own hot Martian nights on the second and third verses. So, is this out-of-this-world bedroom jam a Fantastic Voyage, or does Lowe need to come back down to Earth? If you like what you’re hearing, grab a copy of his Good or Evil? street album when it hits the ‘net April 1. Fans can also look forward to a new mixtape from FLY-C late this month.

Did anyone else immediately think of Kanye's "Heartless" during the first 30 seconds?
I hate to jump on the "I Hate Autotune" train, but my goodness. This would have been a banger without it. I like the deep-sea sounding production, but the vocals are a little too muddled. I don't really get an outer space feel from this, but definitely a 1,000 Leagues Under the Sea vibe. |

From the Kanye-esque production courtesy of the TrackSlayerz (whose plan officially boarded a week or so ago)to Paul's lush vocals I'm a fan. The slight auto-tune isn't enough to garner any hate and although I don't love the rapped contributions, it doesn't sour the listening experience for me.

Ugh, really? Is it too much to ask for a LITTLE originality? Yeah, the ladies will love this lack luster ballad.

To production to auto-tuned vocals, I ain't feeling it. While rapped verses sounded good, lyrics are nothing to write home about. I'll pass.

I was actually expecting something god-awful from the ratings.
It wasn't THAT bad... It was a ok. I might play it a few times, but I would've appreciated some more energy |
