Believe it or not, being a paragon of coolness has its drawbacks… for example, not being able to bang out a DJBooth track review without five different shawtys blowing up your cellular. In fact, here’s one right now! (“Hi Mom… can I call you in a minute? This isn’t a good time.”) OK, I’m back. South Central crew Overdoz know what I’m talking about – on their latest single, December, the Booth newcomers struggle to fend off the honeys that have been flocking to them ever since they got their first taste of success. Over a mellow, synth/bass-driven instrumental by L.A.U.S.D., emcees Creemie, Kent, Sleezy and Tube suavely rebuff those status-seeking females – well, most of them, anyways. Whether or not you can identify with their plight, it’s hard to argue with the West Coast buzzmakers’ combo of laid-back boardwork and smooth, pop-referential rhymes. But enough from me – what do y’all think, Booth readers? Those who like what they’re hearing can find this cut and much more on Overdoz’ latest full-length, Live for, Die For, scheduled for release sometime in mid-November.

I am having a brain fart while trying to come up with an eloquent and articulate way of describing this new feature from Overdoz, so I'll simply keep it simple - "December" is entertaining. The vibe is enjoyable and the connection amongst the four members is undeniable. The best is yet to come, but this is a great start at DJBooth.

Love that production. This record has a really catchy feel, and with the vocals and verses on point, this song might help this group get noticed by a record label.

Kind of a Pimp C meets Pharrell meets L.A. vibe, which is another way of saying its a completely original sound. Dope.
And I guarantee you'd enjoy this one even more if you got all the L.A. reference. Speaking of which, I'm hitting Honey Kettle for lunch. Done deal. |

Smooth. Nutn to get antsy about but it does fill a gap when you want to hear some chilled out tunes.
