If you enjoy the predictable, you hate Outasight. You never know what you’re going to get from the eclectic NY singer/rapper/DJBooth freestyler. One minute he’s knocking back shots on Dizzy, the next he’s recruiting Gangster Gibbs for the dark Near the End, and before your head’s stopped spinning, he’s right back at it with the cruising summertime anthem Turn It Up. Produced by the Dilated People’s DJ Babu, who crafts a smoky, piano-laced beat perfect for kicking back with an adult beverage, Turn It Up is driven by an uniquely stylized hook and on point verse from Outasight (who gives John Ritter a rare hip-hop shout out), along with yet another solid verse from the Kidz in the Hall emcee Naledge, who’s unsurprisingly mostly focused on f**king bougie bi**hes. As the Fresh Prince would say, it’s dope to hear a groove slightly transformed, just a little break from the norm: it’s summer, summer, summer time. If Turn It Up has you reaching for the volume, keep an ear out for RubyHornet’s ongoing Closed Sessions series, where this track can be downloaded for free.

A big big shout out goes to the fellas over at RubyHornet (Alex, Virgil) for putting talent together in the same room.

Getting Babu to produce a joint for Outasight and Naledge might not seem to make sense until you hear it being concocted over at the Soundscape Studios in Chicago. This joint would be improved by a third verse, but I am not about to complain.

I like this much better than some of the previous joints from Outasight where it felt like he was trying too hard. On this he just mellows out and lets his large talents shine. Props.

By his own testimony, Naledge was hungover when he wrote this verse, and it shows. It's nice, but it's far from his best. You'd still be hard pressed to find a better summer vibe out song, props.

Its a wrap, my boy Outasight dropped another gem. i could see this track on repeat for weeks. Everything is so freakin cool about this track, the hook, the verse, the precussion driven instrumental, the two verses. Damn.
