Outasight may have turned over a new leaf and sworn off stress on his last feature, Brand New Day, but big-city alienation is still his lyrical bread and butter.  On this newly-released single, the Big Apple native takes a trip “Downtown in My Mind,” searching for answers to life’s complexities but finding only more questions. Backed by D/Will‘s jazzy string/guitar/windchime beat, the artist lets his distinctive, reedy yet soulful singing voice take center stage. Those who prefer Outasight the rhymesayer to Outasight the singer shouldn’t flip this track off early, though; for the third verse, the artist switches gears to deliver flowed bars as impressive as any we’ve heard from him to date, speaking on his creative vision and waxing nostalgic about, “sipping merlot In Little Italy.”  Though Outasight seems uncertain where his metropolitan wanderings will ultimately lead him, listeners who consider the journey just as important as the destination will find plenty to ponder on Brand New Sessions, out on the 28th.

One of the most diverse new talents that we've had the pleasure of featuring here at the Booth. Watch out for Outasight in 2010. Have I ever steered you wrong??

Really nice. Sometimes you can grasp of the sound of something just by looking at the title, this was one of those songs for me.

Outasight being going in! I'm really digging his joints. His collab with QuESt on "Broken Headphones" was a classic. I think I'm going to holler at this brother for a collab! (I know I say that about a lot of people, but hey, good talent should work together, don't you think?)

This ish is so chill. I feel this. This is something I can listen to on a inspiring "bus ride home".

@Mike Dreams - Yo! Michael check my feedback on Jon Hope's joint featured today. Well actually there's a whole list of names I would like to see you collaborate with. As for Mike + Outasight - I would love to hear the results of a recording session with you two.

And yeah, like always, another good track from Outasight. He can rap and he can sing, both at an extremely high level. And this production is smooth to the point of hypnotism ... BANGER!!!
