On his forthcoming street album, Booth newcomer Orie is set to give the world a little insight into What a Black Man Wants. As he reveals in this newly-leaked cut (making its world premiere here in the Booth!), however, his desires aren’t always in synch with one another – when instant gratification and long-term goals come into conflict, it can be pretty damned difficult to muster up your will power and Walk Away from the situation. Backed by the instantly memorable soul-sampled production of Alex Goose, the St. Louis/Chicago dual representative laments that, though his artistic grind has just begun to bear fruit, he still finds himself getting distracted by persistent females: “It’s hard for a guy to say no when the tip of her thong keeps on showin’, and she’s blowin’ up my line till I notice, but I just wanna make music and stay focused.” It’s a dilemma than every guy can relate to – well, OK, that every guy wishes he could relate to (you wouldn’t believe how difficult it was to get this track review done with shawtys ringing me up every five minutes). For more from this promising up-and-comer, grab a copy of his latest mixtape when it hits the ‘net February 12.

From the opening notes of the song's production (courtesy of the talented and now on my radar Alex Goose)you can tell this is something you'll dig - the only question is: How much?

The hook is the best part of the record, the verses lack the energy I would need to hear to bump up the ratng, but its enough to earn a 3.

Whats next, Orie? Thanks for the premiere.

this beat was for the Jay-Z album, but Jay didn't like none of Alex Goose's beats, (he must be hip-hops biggest idot right), i hate the way this kid took this beat and screwed it in the ass i wish artist would take the time to come up with better hooks...and i hope Alex didn't invest in this kid because that would be a mistake i feel that Dj Z only put this song up because of the beat...and ive been bumping this beat since 09' and ill still bump just the beat...can't rate this a garbage but ok because of the beat

Production is HOT on this track but Orie gets overshadowed by it.
First time hearing Orie and he sounds alright but I'll wait until I hear more from him to really see if he's capable of a little more!!

Really diggin' the beat. Orie brings a fresh new sound to the table and I was lucky enough to listen to a few tracks off What a Black Man Wants and I'm way amped on the release! Production is ILL!

@*#$! is hot. its got that old joint swing n lyrical beauty. I enjoy hearing a new joint that still keeps of the classics that influenced us rather than tryin to keep up with today's industry

Beat is decent enough, sound like something Jay-Z would rap to and I wish he had because it would have been epic. I'm not feeling this guy's flow but I was willing to look past it til I heard the hook and I thought it was really annoying. So with pun intended, i'm just gonna have to walk away-ey-ey-ey-ey from this track.

Great beat, promising though not particularly gripping lyrics, it averages out to three stars. I'm definitely down to hear more from Orie, let's see what else he's got.

I liked it actually. I liked the fact that he isn't the stereotypical new "Thug" artist that has been coming out now-a-days. Refreshing. The only thing I would say is, for a beat such as this one the lyrical should be definitely stepped up. There should be a use of witty word play that would go great with the beat.He should definitely take that into consideration.

For all those who are not interested, I think you guys should give it another chance and think about the music that you consider "music". Songs like what Gucci Man and Soldier Boy put out are not real music, they're just fillers as in it fills your head with garbage. Keep it in perspective kids!

I like this song a lot and can't wait for the official release on Feb 12th!

***For all of those in Chi-city on Feb. 12th the listening party for the mixtape is at Jugernaut, from 6-8 p.m. FREE Drinks and giveaways, CHECK IT OUT on facebook (link below).

Orie and I have worked on a few songs together, and I cannot argue that he doesn't have an excellent ear for beats. This beat is a monster, however, the way he attacked it is lackluster. In my opinion he has better songs he could have leaked in stead of this one because I feel it is probably the weakest I've heard from him. While the song's CONTENT may be excellent, i feel like he doesn't sound natural on this beat, and I also feel like the hook, was HELLA underdeveloped.
