Stay in school even though your heart’s not in it, or sacrifice (relative) security to pursue music full-time? For many rap hopefuls, this question is one of the most crucial ones they’ll ever have to answer. Well aware of the risks involved, but nonetheless determined to shoot For the Stars, St. Louis emcee Orie pledges that this will be his Last Semester on the latest leak off this forthcoming, Booth-sponsored mixtape. An exclusive world premiere, this pensive cut finds Orie, as usual, showcasing his expertise on both sides of the boards. With his own understated synths and rolling percussion bumping in the background, the Midwest native struggles with self-doubt over his decision: “To them, I am just another black statistic / droppin’ out of college, can’t pass statistics.” In the end, though, he expresses faith that he is that one-in-a-million who’s destined for greatness. Like what you’re hearing? Stay tuned for more exclusive world premieres each Monday leading up to the April 25, arrival of Orie’s Booth-sponsored street album, Twenty-20.

I've always been a big fan of Orie's production work for as long as we've featured his material at the site. Finally, though, I feel like his rap skills are starting to match up. "Last Semester," for me, represents his best song submission to date.

This dude is going to make it big, either as a producer or a rapper, or both. Orie's flow is simple, but by no means weak. This is a clean track in both production and flow. I was impressed with his ability to change up the beat and flow towards he end of the song; his transition was seamless. While not groundbreaking, "Last Semester" is defiantly a hype builder for his album.

I must admit that Orie has skills on the board. The tone of the lyrics matched the tone of the production perfectly. Pursue your dreams Orie, if not whats the point of dreaming.

Maybe I'm not hearing what everyone else is hearing (obviously), I'm really struggling to give this a 2. His flow sounds really amateur and I really don't like the production so much...

Orie, this is good listening music for the ages that has been and will come. Excellent flow from a true rap artist. MARK THAT A PLAYER, this has the legs to go all they way.

Another 1st for me. I might do some research on Orie later on to peep his previous work. Beat is as good as they come & flow wise he is on point. This song is a banger & tells the most common story of an aspiring hip hop artist.

Well it's surely not Country Grammar, good to see Orie offering something different from the same region. I think he sounds seasoned on all ends (lyrics, flow, production) and this song can hold it's on with some of the newer dudes on the scene.

The track has potential. With that said, I liked Orie's production and verses. I'll throw it in rotation.

The production is the standout element of the track without a doubt. Orie's work on the mic isn't great, but solid and worthy of mixing with this beat.
