Last week, Slum Village stepped up into the Booth with Faster, a reader-acclaimed single which found the Motown vets exploring a more upbeat, pop-appealing sound than ever before. Today, group member T3 continues that streak of aural experimentation, teaming up with Booth newcomer Onra on the Parisian producer’s latest album leak. Here, a uniquely catchy blend of chopped synth grooves, punchy percussion, and submerged vocal samples pulses in the background as T3 addresses an ex-girlfriend he now knows could have been The One, expressing remorse regarding the lies and infidelities that derailed their relationship way back when “I wish I had a time machine like McFly, ‘cause I never would’ve told those lies, I never would’ve had those chicks in my ride…” Despite the downbeat lyrical theme, the combo of the emcee’s to-the-point rhymes and Onra’s cutting edge (but retro-informed) production stylings makes for a left-field banger sure to get heads nodding. I pressed play and was immediately transported back to the late 80's. Though I dig T3's rhymes, the real star here is the producer Onra. The beat is a winner by itself and in complete song forms works great. I look forward to biting into Onra full project (when time allows).

The first 30 secs. were boring but after it gradually got better. Beat starts sounding nice with his flows. Hook could be better though, sounded static-y.

I would have liked this track just as much if it were instrumental - Onra does an excellent job on the production.
The rhymes are okay, but I wouldn't seek this out on my playlist for them. |

Hmmmm...definitely something different...deciding different good or different bad...I'm gonna go different good. The beat is nothing but good times, and Onra backs it up more than capably. Well done sir, well done.

I was an 80's baby, so I feel this sample, and can envision me back in the day rockin some high top reeboks listening to my radio in my room (didn't get the boom box until later). The drum pattern brings it back to the present with a more current sounding syncopated boom, bap. I'd give it a couple listens.

This is one of those tracks where he production over powers the artist that was tasked with the challenge of bringing his best to the track. Orna brought his best, but his own production bested him.
