When O’Neal McKnight‘s Check Your Coat first hit the DJBooth this past September, it wasn’t one of the better-reviewed tracks on the site. So what’s different this time around? Cleveland DJ Mick Boogie has remixed the original remix (with Greg Nice as the hype man), but, with a new verse thrown in. Fitting perfectly over the third verse of the song are 16 bars from Nas’ Purple (off The Lost Tapes). This is the second remix to be featured on DJBooth courtesy of Mick Boogie, the other of course is Rick Ross’ The Bossremix which MB assisted with an older verse from Weezy F. Baby.
This beat is bad in my opinion. They could have done some things to the throwback beat to make it more modern. The chorus is pretty cool and that might make me play it again. The singing is better than NAS rapping to me.
Nas does a good job on this track. No, I think they need one more remix to get this track right. Is he trying to sound like Michael Jackson at the end of the song. What about the picture? A classic Michael pose.
this song is in rotation over here in jersey for about 2 months now i liek it because the radio cant stop playing it people request it all the time but when i first herd the song i hated it... so my real rating is ok but since it grew on me and this songs has a following over here at least its in rotation
This has, and has had, major dance floor potential. The beat is straight out of MJ's closet. For months I have said the entire industry is being geared towards DANCEABLE music. If you can't dance to it, its going to fall out hardcore. This is danceable, it will work in his favor.
for all the people who can't sing on key, this is your song!
I like this song its catchy, he's know Terrance trent Darby nor Michael Jackson but it cool, for some reason. 6-10
This song is just boring. O'Neal McKnight was putting me to sleep with his lackluster singing. I can't say I know his other material, but from this he doesn't sound like anything I would ever want to hear again. Nas has a nice feature, but he can't save this.
DJ Z your right and I have agreed with you on the fact hip hop is going to "danceable" beats for a hot minute but no dis to MJ or the beat I think they do need to go to a more modern dance/hip hop hybrid beat. With all that said I didn't like it until I played it at cook out and can't lie nobody could keep from head bobin!
