The “it” factor is something all bands long for but few attain. Having “it” boils down to a handful of essential conditions, including setting, timing, and, most importantly, chemistry. If you want to know what “it” sounds like, take a listen to One Block Radius. The Pop/R&B/Hip-hop three piece from Chico, California was meant to make music together. Maybe it’s the way their voices harmonize, or the unique approach they’ve taken to genre-blending. Whatever it is, it works. Their remix of their new single, You Got Me, is about making it to the top without forgetting about those who were with you at the bottom. The remix doesn’t stray too far from the original, except for the addition of verses from guests Baby Bash and Fabolous. The track will be featured on their self-titled sophomore album, out September 16. If you need some OBR to tide you over until then, check out their interview with DJBooth early next month.
just when i thought it couldnt get any better. this remix is great. i dont think there is n-e thing that n-e one could do 2 make this song bad tho. 1 of my top 10 favs of all time. love it.
I'm really feeling this track, from Loso's verse to these singers. Production is solid and they have a smooth voice that flows nicely over it. Not a big Baby Bash fan, and I think he makes the song too pop-ish, so thats my only complaint. Maybe they're trying to be pop, who knows? Haven't heard the original but I'm guessing this is an upgrade. Slight banger for me, this was a toss up from a 3 or 4.
I remember when this original first came out, I instantly loved it and gave it 5 stars. Loso's verse was nice. His delivery was awesome The rest of the song is off the chains. Baby Bash's verse was a'ight. I knew he wouldn't really bring it, as usual. I actually have to drop the rating one star from the original for that reason. But overall, it's still a banger!
The chorus is catchy, fab comes in killin it as mr. loso usually does, the singing is good, baby bash doesnt really do it for me though...song overall is fly...i already got the chorus stuck in my head and its only the second time im' listening to it...therefore in my head its a banger
Like Charlie mentioned, my man Marty James will be joining me inside the Booth for an interview. Peep it next week and don't forget to pick up these guys' album on the 9/16! This is a HIT single, radio station supported or not.
this song is so smooth & has a very nice flow. & they arent just a one hit wonder either. they also have a song on their myspace called "stand up", which will also be on their new album that hits stores 9/16. it gave methe same reaction that "you got me" gave me. these guys are here to stay.
This is just OK to me. Something about the second person to rock on the track which just seemed to cheapen the whole experience for me. And listening to the chorus once again sounds just so-so with an Akon-wanna-be sound to it. The production is something off of a Jordan Sparks track and it just seems boring...
Anything One Block Radius does is a Classic...and to put Fabolous and Baby Bash on the same song is clever. They know Loso always reps NY to the fullest and Baby Bash reps the South, plus he always got the females lovin any track he's on...and especially because those two artists normally would'nt be on a track together...that's what I loved about this track. It's out of the ordinary and refreshing... I just copped the album and they don't sound like anyone out there. What a great mixture of styles! Way to go One Block Radius...
I just saw the video... for some reason didn't listen to this despite being on the booth alot lately. great song, loso and baby bash do their thing, i love it
