It just so happens I was in the room for a preview of Omarion’s new album Ollusion when he proudly pressed play and his new single Speedin began to blast out the speakers. After its last notes faded O called it the best song he’s ever made, and I was hard pressed to disagree. The foundation of Speedin is its dynamic production, a simultaneously pounding and symphonic affair courtesy of frequent collaborator 253, who mercifully keeps the car-related sound effects to a minimum, but far more important to the track’s success is Omarion himself, who turns in the kind of emotional, wide-ranging vocal performance he first hinted he was capable of on Ice Box. In other words, if you thought Omarion was only capable of dance friendly r&b-pop tunes, Speedin should help put that myth to rest. So how about it Booth? Is this indeed the best work of Omarion’s career? The world awaits your answer. Ollusion is available online and in stores now.

I'm willing to say that the reason Omarion thinks this is the best song of his career is because his vocals are the highlight, and he's shown that he doesn't have to hide behind thumping bass to sell. It's definitely of equal or better quality than many of his hits. "Ice Box" is a tough act to follow, though.

OH MY GOD! one of the best r&b hooks i ever heard. ok, maybe thats a lil out there, but its easily 5 star quality and an instant fav of all time (still talkin bout the hook). as for the rest of the song, im not sure if its his best song, but its my new fav from him. i had no idea Omarion could get down like this.

This song is the most mature song on the album, not that the album is bad, it's in fact GREAT! I feel that this is more of O's comfort zone though, job well done, this is a SMASH!

This is going to hit hard on radio. Omarion sounded great on this, thanks in part to the production which really allowed Omarion's vocals to shine.

I don't think this will get too up there on the charts, but it'll be somewhat big for a little. This is the best track he has ever done, and if he continues to grow and mature, hopefully by the mid-decade he'll be a force to be reckoned with.

I honestly didn't know Omarion could deliver vocals like this (shades of Mario) and judging by the look on his face when he first played it, neither did he. If he keeps making music like this, and not Hoodie, we could be looking at one of the best young voices in r&b in a couple years. The boy's definitely become a man on this one, big props.

This is a good song that's quite unique but the song is too boring to be a hit. Reminds me of Russian Roulette crossed with Whatcha say in terms of tone an ingenuity. Hopefully Omarion can find a song off this album to hit big.

I cant agree anymore..this is by far the best song of Omarion's career. The production on this is classic material and Omarion's voice range on this one was crazy. At first I didnt think that was him because his vocals were amazing! This song shows that Omarion has top notch talent. He just needs to find ways to bring out his full potential to create outstanding tracks like this. I can see him being a huge force in the R&B game if he keeps it up.

Omarion has always been a hit and miss for me.....unfortunately usually the case is the latter... i dunno, Omarions style of R&B seems to always be middle-of-the-road, or dull. The only tracks ive really enjoyed from him are ice box and Comfort with Lil Wayne.
This is okay, but again its nothing too exciting. Maybe i just need a few more listens to get into it... |

This is the first time I've heard this song and I don't see what all the talk is about. I think the song is quite average compared to other R&B cuts. Maybe this is Omarion's best song, but not the best I've heard.

Vocally this is for sure omarions best song. I've never heard O get down like this and hopefully it's a sign of things to come. Personally I don't find it to be as catchy as some of his other songs like Ice Box and a couple of others. Maybe it'll grow on me tho. It can definitely do at least a little bit at radio tho, certainly better than that lame song with Gucci. The only cool thing about that was the video

I'm with @J Roc. Vocal performance makes it seated right next with "Ice Box" but the melody isn't that strong enough. I would rather call it - The second best work of Omarion's career. But make no doubt about it, the only track off of "Ollusion" worth repeating. Need more of it! 3.5

Vocals and the hook are spectacular!!
I had lost a little hope since hearing some of his past couple of singles which were less than average but this more than makes up for the lack of those singles!! HOOK is the winner in this track!! |

Sorry y'all I'd have to disagree. Track doesn't touch IceBox in any way. Song might have a niche audience at best but no more than that. Def appreciate the direction he was going with it though but he should keep the tempo up..

The song was cool, but I can't say I'm an Omarion fan. I think the problem is that usually when I like a singer it's just their natural soul. With Omarion, it sounds like he was trained to sing sorta like Marques Houston. There's not any natural soul. I love "Icebox" and "Get It In" was cool, even though he was basically talking. Maybe this song will rub off on me later, but I'm more into old school R&B than I am new school R&B, minus cats like Ne-Yo and Tyrese.

Yay! I think I got the Omarion that I love back because "I Get It In" was NOT it! It had a nice beat but I think it was kind of immature...anyways, this is very new for Omarion and I hope his album goes more in this direction.

Poppin and lockin isn't the only thing this man can do, I'm appreciating the vocals, considering, and hope he does make this the official single. Unbelievable... this song doesnt even chart on the top 100?! WTF is wrong with society?!
Production is superb, with a simple piano, an even simpler, but so exquisite militaristic percussion, and the amazing guitar riffs! Like the video puts it, that's all it takes to create an amazing musical background to support Omarion's best vocal performance to date. Melody might not be catchy, like some point, but it's better than that, it's artistic: each note sounds exactly like the pain of loosing someone should sound. But in a beautiful way. And this is not good enough for a top 20?!? I give up! |

Personally, I enjoy this song. I'm no critic, I won't deny that, but I think this song put Omarion back on track because he did seem kind of like he was in the shadows for a while. I think this song has g decent beat to match the lyrics, good song.
