After some early and extraordinary success, Omarion has largely spent the last couple years on the sidelines working out some label difficulties, but it looks like O is back on the court and ready to ball thanks to a signing with EMI. On his new single Hoodie, his first release since September’s I Get It In, Omarion harkens back to his old B2K days with a track that’s tailor made for 106 & Park. While a slowly sparkling beat from producer 253 drips in the background, Omarion enters some dangerous not-quite-rapping, not-quite-singing territory (shades of Weezy?) with a flow that’s filled with more brand names than a mall. Not even a verse from the usually hard Jay Rock can drag Hoodie into musical respectability, but maybe, just maybe, it’s got enough guilty pleasure potential to be a hit. Frankly, I’ll have to let the Booth decide on this one. Omarion’s often-delayed album Ollusion is now set to drop on January 12.

Although this isn't the best track Ive heard from Omari I'm really hoping this track helps Jay Rock get some shine!!! Glad to see him on tracks with established artists!

To quote Nathan: "...Omarion harkens back to his old B2K days with a track that’s tailor made for 106 & Park."
Yup, and thats why I am not a fan. Dude needs to grow up a little, show off the pipes, and decide what he wants the next 15-20 years of his career to look like. He is more talented than "Hoodie." |

I was on the fence for this one so I broke my decision down...
His new direction for this album: 4/5 I like where this is going, hope he sticks to his singing roots on a few songs though The concept of this song: 3/5, I mean HOODIES? Well, it hasn't been down before, unlike other clothing items...(Vans (The Pack), J's (Nelly), Skinny Jeans and a Mic...) Was I feeling the song?: 4/5, I dug the vibe, its a nice little banger. |

Certain parts sounds like Jeremih's "everywhere we are" track!! Come on O bring some originality to the game!!
This will get some serious radio play no doubt about it!! Jay Rock and the production is what shines in my book!! |

Omarion needs to be a little creative. I mean come on. He has the talent but all of these recent tracks have been so generic. Jay Rock was decent but ultimately coulnd't save this for me. Not impressed.

I always have high hopes for Omarion as I think he is extremely talented. The production on this track is cool. I like the chorus and I know this would BUMP in the club. This has radio-Banger Potential. I'll throw it in rotation at least. I like it overall.

When he was dropped "Icebox" I was like "damn, the boy has become a man." So it's hard not to see this as a serious regression. To (loosely) quote Vince Vaughn in Old School, "You're better than that Omarion, you're better than that."

One star for Jay Rock's verse. As for Omarion, his "lyrics" will make you long for the intellectual depth of Lil Jon.
--------------------------------- (Man I'm fresh as HELL in this hoodie!) Let's get it! Omarion! Wit my hoodie on! Wit my hoodie on! Wit my hoodie on! (Verse 1) (Omarion) See the money! See the cars! See the house! Livin' large! Look in the mirror! See a star! Motospace! Hella far! They at the bottom! I'm on top! I'm so high! I can't drop! I immediately noticed the production work. This will get O more air time for sure. Radio love this type of swagg'n music. Jay Rock represented but I would have liked to see him take a golf club to the track and smashed it (just a few more lines would have done it).
