Olivia - Control

Artist: Olivia

Featuring: Drake

Producer: DJ Special K

Album: Under the Radar Mixtape

Label: HVFilms/Dollaz Unlimited

Uh oh, looks like former G-Unit singer Olivia is the latest artist to manipulate Drake-Mania to their advantage. Ironically titled Control, this new cut from the songtress’ Under the Radar mixtape features exotic production from DJ Special K and raps courtesy of the only and only Drake “Drizzy” Rodgers. I hoped Drake’s new-found fame wouldn’t mean doing collabs with everyone and their mother like his Young Money mentor, and I’m not sure whether to be disappointed just yet because the rapper’s contributions seem dated

rappers vocals were actually stolen from an older unreleased record; how long has Olivia had these vocals? Adapting a rapid-fire flow that he used in his Replacement Girl days, Drake takes control of Control making it seem more like a Drake jam than an Olivia anthem as the Canadian heartthrob serves up two verses And as for Olivia, the Candy Shop crooner talks about not needing men; she even brags about not having to throw it in the bag since she “got Fab on speed dial.” Ironically, her performance on this one didn’t warrant any replay from me without Drake’s surrounding verses. But hey, forget me; let’s turn the volume up and hear what the Booth has to say.

Oh my gosh! This song is awesome and greatly incredible...........if I hadn't of heard it three years ago when a Canadian singer named Leila put it out.

This was a lame move, however it happened. Somehow Olivia obtained this session, took off that girl's vocals and Drake saying her name and then made a song to it, trying to capitalize on his buzz. New Drake bandwagon's probably had no idea, but as a long time supporter of homey, I spelled a rat from the get-go. LOL.

Nice try Olivia.

Best beat I've heard in a while. Maybe it's just me but Drake's verse just seems like he didn't put much of an effort in. Olivia wasn't bad either.

Seems Minaj sparked more female artists to come out again. Sadly it may not have been for the best. Havn't heard from Olivia in a minute, and with Drake featuring I expected alot from this song with her roots with 50. Drake's verse is forgettable and so is this song altogether. Worth a listen or two but not that special.

Drake's old flow from Room For Improvement (look it up) is the only thing saving this song from complete and udder disaster.

Beat = Iffy
Olivia = Weak, at best
Drizzy = Killed it with that flow, but that's about it

Come on now, give Drake some more quality material to rap over.

I thought Olivia was a man? Haha

Drake needs to stop lending out verses to everyone who pays him for it. He is the type of artist who needs to be more cautious with where his vocal get put down (like Andre 3k).

Drake does his part on the song but it just seems like Olivia puts down a mediocre part on this track that doesn't help at all. I hope she is still getting royalties from Candy Shop.

Drakes Flow was pretty sick, but olivia doesn't do anything for this. The beat was the thing that caught my attention though.

I feel duped. Since its been revealed (thanks Mike) that this isn't an original production (why do reps have to lie to me about this sh*t), I am going to rate it appropriately.

The Drake feature verses gave this a reason for feature, but since they are old and being reused I won't muster up more ratings points because of them.

Damn I forgot about her. This isn't a great song to put out especially when you've been mia. Wack beat, some decent lyrics but just nothing special overall. Not a fan of Drake and still isn't. Olivia needs to go back to the studio and take control of her career.

I never knew this was a old song that Olivia hijacked, thanks for the history lesson Mike Dreams. Im going to rate this as if I never knew that piece of information though.

Ok, I thought that this was a pretty decent look for Olivia, despite the fact that she was obviously the weakest part of this track. Drake's flow & the production were both dope in my opinion.

i thought it was ku regardless of its roots. im jus ratin the song based on wat i jus heard.

As for Olivia, she should do watevr it takes to revive her career. the more successful female artists in hip hop, the better. we never hear any good rap/sung collabos anymore. thats why we need girls like Olivia and J-Lo.

Being a die-hard Drake fan I'm gonna try my hardest to give an honest opinion of this song. I think it has potential and feel if you keep on listening to it, it will grow on you. Some soulful breakdowns in there add to the vibe and catchyness of the track. Drake pushed this song up from a 2 star to a 3!

This is a great song. The first time I heard it I was surprised that it was Drake and a new song. The beginning has an old school flavor. Another thing I love about it is Olivia's vocals she has an amazing voice although it is a little generic. It reminds me a lot of Rhianna and a lot of the other femaile artists that you hear. Because of Olivias voice I will be giving this song a 3 but I do like the drake parts in it.

WOW Mike Dreams is RIGHT. Olivia stole this joint from Leila . Damn thats all i gotta say about that. thats a an abomination. I wonder if Drake even consented to this.ok i will compare the two. Leila vocals kinda sound better to me or im just being biased cause olivia is a thief. it would have been average but its garbage now cause its Leila song

Got a club beat, but that loop is a bit annoying. Nothing too impressive by Olivia. Its a decent track that has a nice Drake feature, but I really don't see this going too far. She's gotta come with something bigger, to make her presence known in the R&B game.

Especially after the whole G-Unit saga.....

Straight up... The track was fire when Drizzy was spittin over it but the tempo just kinda fell off when Olivia was doin' her thang. No disrespect just don't know if it was a great choice of production for HER. Just didn't mesh well imo...

As lame as them jacking this song is, I wouldn't be surprised if I hear it on the radio sometime soon. Nobody cares about how a song is made, they just care about what it sounds like and if it has mass appeal. 1 star for drakes verse alone

Ain't liking the production... sounds like a 'cheap' rejected impersonation of Scott Storch production house. So both versions aren't for me. Two stars for that second Drizzy verse, though.

Keep exposing the truth!!

I love this song....well the original version at least!! I can't believe they would just reuse the same track except swap singers...I guess the label representatives didn't think anyone would notice huh?! Well about the only thing that remains consistently great on this "reused" track is Drake's verses which, even if they are pretty old, still show he is one of the best. So Drake + Original = Banger....But Olivia + Duplicate = Garbage

The song its self is probably a 4 olivia sounds decent enough and drake does what drake does.

However, lets face it this song was stolen and doesnt really even deserve to be rated. Im sorry if thats too harsh but that doesnt sit well with me. Give credit where credit is due.

This is like the remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, it takes a good overall picture/song and changes it and adds attractive "Stars" to it, ultimately creating something mediocre and forgettable. Drake has been killing me lately with his choices. I'm really going to need him to step up or should I say step down from his high horse and return to form.
