Obie Trice‘s Bottoms Up LP has been delayed for so long that those addicted to the sometime Booth fave’s spirited sound may be starting to experience a touch of delerium tremens. Though there’s still no word on the album, Trice-aholics will be happy to hear that the Motown mic-destroyer’s back with a little something to quell the shakes. The artist’s first feature since November’s Anymore, unreleased joint Making Dough finds Trice spitting about – what else? – the accumulation of currency. MTK handles production duties, crafting a beat that careens between a gritty, organ-driven groove and a cartoonish, oddly addictive chorus, Trice casts an approving eye over the cash he’s amassed to date, touting his skills and brushing off the haters in between admiring his stacks. He even takes a moment to address fans who have been fiending for new material, spitting “ I got my own life outside this here bidness,” but assuring them, “I didn’t disappear like a blemish, I’m here.” Does that mean the album’s coming sooner than later? We can only hope – in the meantime, keep it locked to the Booth for details as they arise.
