Soul Survivor, the first entry in our brand new DJBooth.net Freestyle Series comes to us courtesy of Booth favorite Novel. The Atlanta-based singer/songwriter/producer/emcee, who spits over his own beat on this exclusive freestyle, recently impressed our readers with Mad World, a cut inspired by the tragic death of Omar Grant III. Novel’s debut EP, I Am: Future Black President, is available now on iTunes, and his highly-anticipated first studio album, The Audiobiography, is scheduled to hit stores March 24th.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the instrumental on here! I like when people rap on beats that rappers wouldn't usually rap on (see papoose mixtape Menace II Society 2)! He was decent on here and I can respect his flow! What a great section addition!!! Big things for the booth in 09!!!

Ha. DJ Z must be happy. Don't we all wish we could get shouted out on a freestyle? Lol well, as for the song, I love it. Production was absolutely enjoyable, and he flowed very well. Not one of the best I've heard, but still banger.
