As anyone who’s ever watched VH1’s landmark show knows, there are three surefire ways to ensure you end up with your very own Behind the Music episode: just overindulge in money, drugs and women. Booth nation favorite Novel once again proves he’s simply on another level with the release of his latest cut, the aforementioned Money, Drugs & Women [Proverbs], a smoothly formulated warning to those prone to addiction. While producer Ako, who also lays down a guest verse, sets the pace with a bluesy, mellow beat, Novel displays his ever-improving mic skills (spending all that time with Joell Ortiz clearly paid off), and then brings in fellow emcee and longtime collaborator Amir Taron to seal the deal. An artist who’s more interested in making timeless music than doing lines of blow off a groupie’s stomach with an $100 bill? At this rate Novel will never get one of those cool Behind the Music voiceovers. Money, Drugs & Women [Proverbs] is the second release - the first was the Booth uber-approved State of Loneliness – off Novel’s upcoming Legato Blues Summer Mixtape, due out this summer.

This isn't my favorite featured Novel record of all-time, but even the best of the rest is still better than most (ooooh, that sounded real dope - I am coining that phrase).

Love,love,love! This is a hot track! It's incredibly refreshing to hear something other than the norm. The production is smooth, and I'm always a fan of what Nov is doing. Amir Taron is definitely nice!!! Can't wait for Legato Blues Summer!

I was begging for more material from Novel after his last track. I'm pumped for Legato Blues Summer! (hot title) Good performance on the hook, I'm not sure what I think about the concept after one listen. I anticipate it growing on me though. Smooth vibe

haha DJ Z do u mean "even the WORSE of the rest is still better than most" as in the worse of novel's collection is better than most out there? this is a laid back jam though. all 3 did good. amir taron had the best verse though.

More please. Even for Novel, the man's been on a hell of a roll lately. At first I was feeling like the outro was a little long, but I'm willing to bet that in the context of the whole project it will sound perfect. Definitely something to mellow out to, and think about.
