The word “autobiography” almost always implies a success story—if you were focusing on your tragic personal failures, you’d be writing a memoir, right? Knowing that the official debut single is a crucial chapter in any musical success story, Booth favorite Novel is jump-starting his own Audiobiography with a catchy, radio-ready love song. Over DJ Toomp and JayMac‘s romantic, string-driven instrumental, the multitalented musician puts on his “R&B singer” hat to let a special lady know he’ll do anything, “...if it Makes You Happy.” Though those familiar with cuts like the poetic I Am may be a little disappointed to hear the ATL native resort to head-scratching lines like, “You’re so Shakespearean/ Like a textbook love.” (As we saw back in February, he can freestyle better lyrics than that), the soulful, subtly-Autotuned melody and soaring falsetto he brings to the single should net him plenty of new fans, and heighten anticipation for his debut LP’s June release.

I'm not really an R&B guy. But I did like the Booth Freestyle novel did. And this works to. I think he has a bright future. Good job

Nice smooth vocals Novel is really talented with different genres. The production is a little too sad for me but I guess it works. I can listen to this every once in a while

This is really catchy, the melody and beat!
Production is amazing, strings and bass sound great! I liked his vocals approach, but the voice could be cleaner. |

that1kid13 I was thinking the same thing when I saw you were still just a DJ Booth Member. but about the song.. this is definitely something I can chill too. His vocals are right on and this flows nice. 3 for me. |

novel reminds me of drake, just not as well known. he can sing and rap both at the same level and not many other people in the music buisness can do that. smooth track tho im diggin it

I really respect and appreciate Novel as an artist. Having said that, I think he can do a lot better. I'm not just saying that because I think he should do only "poetic" and introspective hip-hop, I just think he can do better in the love song department as well.
I do like the song tho, it's just not that exciting. The beat is nice and mellow, but nothing to grab your attention. His vocals sound really good, even though the subtle auto-tune is present. I really like the message he is telling to the woman he's speaking to. I just think the vocals on the hook could have been done with just a little more intensity, but its still a good/feel good song. |

Smooth and chill, I've been looking out for Novel, ever since Rowdy resurfaced with Da Backwudz. Novel's a cool dude, I'll definitely be checking for "The Audiobiography", decent track here.

i like the feel of this song. beat sounds like something straight from a J-Dilla crate. lol have to agree that shakespearean line wasnt the highlight of this track but can easily be forgotten when the rest of the track is so good, he ends the song off the way Musiq Soulchild would and i can feel that
