On New Year’s Day, 22-year-old Oakland, California native Oscar Grant III was shot to death by a police officer responding to reports of men fighting on a Bay Area Rapid Transit train. The senselessness of the killing, compounded by the fact that Grant was lying face-down on the train platform when he was shot, spurred local protests and proceeded to spark outrage on a national level. In response to the tragedy, Atlanta emcee/singer/songwriter Novel has recorded a new record entitled Mad World. Taking inspiration from Gary Jules’ cover of the Tears for Fears song of the same name, Novel expresses his sorrow and confusion in sung and then rapped verses, addressing the unpleasant social and economic realities that force many Americans to live in fear and uncertainty. Mad World is not set to appear on any commercial release, but fans can look forward to the arrival of Novel’s debut album, The Audiobiography in March of this year.

Novel has GOT to be one of favorite artist EVER, He's incredible, he sings amazingly, then he can turn right around and rap like its nothing, and he makes what you could say a little movie, or comic in your head when you listen to his songs, He should be nearly at the top of the best artists in my opinon..
This song is reallyyy good, production is kinda old schoolish feelin to it, lovin the piano though!, Novel always comes his best. |

Oh, sorry for double postin, but Hey Z, Any news on the album that i think it was Novel, not forsure, said he was gonna release with just Chapters instead of song names, (Ex. Chapter 1, Chapter 2, exc..)? It's been awhile back also just if you forget..

How have I never heard of that terrible trajady. Novel's version of this song is nothing less than classic and I have only heard the first min of it so far. I loved his version of Lupe's "Fighters" with Joel Ortiz. This is just as sick.

I just watched the video. That was horrible. That officer needs to be prosecuted for murder. He was being held down by 3 cops lying on his stomach with his hands behind his back. The cop struck him and then pulled his weapon and fired into him. I saw it with my own eyes.

No I'm sorry I didn't see it in person, I saw it on camera like most of us did. As soon as I pressed enter I realised that I gave the impression I was there, but I was not. That was a terrible thing to witness on any level and I feel terrible for everyone who was on hand to witness that and especially for Mr. Grant who lost his life.

Great remake of the song.. I had just been downloading the original cover by Gary Jules after hearing it as a soundtrack to a Youtube video.. then came to this site and found a new cover.. this one is way better than the original. It's absolutely outrageous that the pig that murdered Oscar Grant has not been arrested or charged with a crime yet. Anyone out here with a blog.. spread the news of this story.. copy and paste whatever.. make sure muthafu*kas know what happened in Oakland, CA. No justice no peace - fu*k the police.
