Though Novel‘s road to musical success hasn’t been an easy or straightforward one, the many obstacles he’s faced in his life and career have only made him stronger, and his story more compelling. Nowhere is this clearer than on Audiobiography bonus track Grand Finale, which is as much the prelude to a new chapter in the artist’s life as it is an ending. Looking back on the hardships he’s faced, from his lack of a father figure throughout his poverty-stricken childhood to the industry politics that derailed his debut album’s release, the ATL-based jack-of-all-trades does double-duty, delivering rapped verses (flowing in the Booth for the first time since March feature Hold On) and a sweeping R&B hook over Jiggilo lushly orchestrated blend of choral vocals, strings, and synths (also featuring a sample from the Chi-Lites’ Have You Seen Her). It’s still unknown when or on which label Novel will be releasing his long-awaited debut—in the meantime, though, fans can enjoy his Suspended Animation mixtape, as well as his newly-premiered video interview with DJ Z.

 im not sold. Novel is talented of course. but i just dont feel this song. he put his heart in it i can tell. so tellin whats up is a nice touch. but i cant find myself ever listenin 2 this again.

When the intro was ending and in came the drums and the rest of the production, I could only think of one descriptive word: beautiful. Add Novel's soulful vocals and it's over. You can just hear the emotion in his voice when he spits on the vocals. This is a great upbeat and kinda uplifting track. I'll give it a 4.5 and round up, no complaints about this track.

I pretty much agree with everything Juanito said. The first word that came to my mind when I heard the production was... "beautiful." Then add in Novel's vocals (which are always top-notch) this is an easy 4.5 near classic but since there are no evident flaws in the track, it gets a classic rating (so pretty much everything Juantio already said...).

The only thing that you can compare this too this year is Maxwell, but then when I go there, you'll say "Where is the rap in Maxwell's songs?" and I won't be able to answer you. Novel is an amazing singer, and an exceptionally talented rapper.

been following this guy for a minute - this track has impressed me the most next to his remix of cudi's 'sky might fall' which i think is actually better than cudi's original... dude is mad talented, just a matter of time before he breaks out. great stuff
