Reeling in the wake of a long-term relationship that soured into Bust Your Windows-style animosity, Novakane addresses the thin line between Love and Hate on his first Booth feature. Over Sixx July‘s melancholy production, the Chi-town rapper describes a woman whose vindictiveness has Jazmine beat by a wide margin; in addition to throwing a brick through the windshield of his ride she pours sugar in the gas tank, takes a knife to the rims, bleaches his best shoes, cuts up his clothes, and keeps him from seeing the kids. Most men would have filed for a restraining order by this point, but not Novakane – through former Next frontman R.L.‘s soulful hook he reveals that he simply can’t get over his vengeful ex. Novakane’s debut LP, The 1st 48, drops this spring; here’s hoping he has better luck with listeners than he’s had with women.

The piano in the beginning got me thinking that it would be smooth. The production is average and the piano keeps it up but its kinda too sad. The hook is iight and Novakane brings good flow but I think his flow is a little too agressive for this type of song. Decent track

I like the soft, sad production on this. I like Novakane's flow betta here than on "Shawty Said." The subject matter is pretty interesting and he brings an energetic and intense flow. The hook is a little unimaginative, but its not bad.

Agree with Babii Boy, I really like the lyrics on here. Having a track with enjoyable subjectivity makes the difference. Production is smooth. Banger!

Novakane comes with intelligent lyrics/subject .... but the flow is a tad boring..... hook is aight ....

Since I am over my head in work for the new exclusive freestyle series, today is simple feedback day (I am allowed, right?)
Great message... nice delivery... solid choice on the hook accompaniment (What Up R.L.?)... voice will prevent this from going any further. The Booth, however, supports good music with good meaning.

July Sixx did nice on this production. It coulda been a little cleaner, though in my opinion. I don't like Novakane's style of rapping over the production. I feel his flow though and I get the message. His content is substantial.
Where has RL been. He sounds great. I just don't think I can listen to this again. Just like maybe some guys can't listen to Bust Your Windows or Call Me Guilty. |
