After centuries upon centuries of cautionary tales, you think people would have learned by now: you just don’t Bargain With the Devil. Seriously—this is the f*ckin’ devil we’re talking about. You’re not going to come out ahead. Be that as it may, Faustian pacts are excellent grist for the artistic mill. Case in point: Booth newcomer Notion‘s latest single, which finds the Seattle repper evoking the timeless theme to express his feeling on his grind. MTK mans the boards, serving up a lush, ominous beat that shares a sample with Sadat X’s recent joint of the same name (No luck identifying the source—the hook features snippets from Jedi Mind Tricks’ Speech Cobras and Jay-Z‘sD’Evil, though.). Notion takes an appropriately dark, poetic tack on the mic, describing the circumstances that led up to his meeting with the man downstairs. Does this moody banger leave you craving more? You’re in luck; released in April, the artist’s aptly-titled Three Songs With MTK EP is available on Nation’s official site for the low, low price of
your immortal soul
