To paraphrase a common complaint of old-school heads, rap just ain’t what it used to be—once raw and authentic, the genre has (they claim) transformed into a glossy, mass-produced simulacrum of its former self. On 1983 Old School Chick, a world premiere off beatsmith Nobody Famous’ forthcoming Booth-sponsored mixtape, SoCal phenom Wax and comedian Andy Milonakis extend that argument to the realm of women, longing for a day when females didn’t feel the need to distort their natural beauty. First to flow over the ATL beatsmith’s bouncy boom-bap grooves, the man who brought us Eviction Notice and Scrublife spends his opener fantasizing about a “1983 Playboy centerfold” with “natural tits,” collagen-free lips and a “big-ass bush” for good measure. Milonakis brings his own brand of shock humor to the back, calling out the “fake sl*tbags” of today (and enjoying a little Atari) in his trademark, eternally-adolescent flow. Nobody Famous has come along way as a producer and working with Wax, long before he signed a major label deal with Def Jam or dropped two dope projects at the Booth, showcases this ascension. I could have done without Andy's rhymes, which are a joke unless you listen to him stoned or drunk (and I don't necessarily recommend either action in order to enjoy a song stream.)

This was decent. I like the throwback beat from NF, but the flows was just OK to me, but I do like the concept. Funny chorus.

I'm a big fan of Wax, Andy Milo, and Nobody Famous so this collaboration just makes sense to me.
The beat is eerie, but still has those signature elements that make a NF famous beat fire. I'm pumped for the mixtape coming this week!! |

This is sr8 RAW..I love this!! I've been listening to Wax for a minute now & I love the fact that he always spits real bars and says what ever he feels. Nobody Famous will get life if arrested for how dope the track is. Love how the beat just puts you in one of those moods to nod your head, vibe out, and not care. & Andy's verse brought humor to the song along with the hook. I like music like this!!! 5*
