Toronto singer Nirvana Savoury is quick to label chicken and waffles as a crazy combination. To me, that just sounds like a Sunday morning after a hard night out. Regardless, she’s the one with the mic, so we’ll have to hear her out. Her new single, Chickn N Waffles, is a club banger filled with food metaphors (when did food become so sexy?). Considering that the highlights on Ms. Savoury’s résumé are her appearances on the soundtracks of Soul Plane and Honey, you probably aren’t familiar with her work. If Chickn N Waffles is any indication, however, it won’t be long until she makes a name for herself in the States. Her honey-sweet voice sounds right at home over Midi Mafia’s electric club beat. No announcements have been made regarding her debut album.

This is a GREAT pop record. LOTS of credit here goes to the talent of MIDI MAFIA, who supply a radio-ready beat for Nirvana to sing over. I am curious to hear else she has in store. Damn, I'm hungry.

T. got some lookers. This is one of um. I'm from L.A. so Chicken and waffles is a norm round here. Not a crazy combination. If you market this here we gon laugh at you. if you throw some mustard on our food we gonna be pissed. By the way someone tell her that that resturant is not new been around for over 25 years. Anyway. She's fine, but this song is just pissin me off.

T-DOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This production is pretty good. Nirvana is a beautiful looker and also has pretty good vocal presence. I can dig it. Who is that bootleg Timbo in the back? LOL. This is like the Canadian version of Keri Hilson & Timbaland. Interesting. But I hope my favorite rapper from the T-DOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! remixes this. D-R-A-K-E, you know how the story goes.

By the way, I don't know about the chickn N waffles analogy. It is a unique combination but I would of preferred bread N butter, ham N cereal, Watermelon N chocolate, or grits N beer (just a thought).

what really sounds original out there these days??? Can someone please tell me??? everything is influenced by something that was already done... did you guys not notice Timberlands "the way I are" had the "street dream" sample from annie Lennox??? really people... music is all about innovation.. There was nothing new about Amy Winehouse.. she's Doo-wop all over again! I appreciate the constructive feedback, BUT until someone actually puts something TOTALLY original out.. I really can't take all of this seriously ;p

Wow I'm really feeling this song! great production, catchy, danceable and energic. What to say about her voice? Cool, it fits the music. I also love the rap parts, they break the flow of the song...banger!
