Having picked up plenty of buzz with his Bullets Ain’t Got No Name mixtape series, West Coast MC and good friend of the Booth Nipsey Hussle is ready to get back to work securing a solid drop date for his full-length debut, South Central State Of Mind. Hussle’s devoted followers may recognize his newest single from Volume 2 of the BAGNN series. Roll The Windows Up is a bona fide West Coast banger, complete with a percussion-heavy beat by Detroit Red, a hook by K. Young, and a middle verse from the Slauson Boyz (the Booth definitely has its eye on them). What’s different this time around is that the Los Angeles native adds a third verse, complete with various similes describing his laid-back lifestyle. Hussle’s earned considerable reader acclaim on previous features, and there’s no reason this record shouldn’t continue his streak of impressive reader reviews and chart performance. As of press time, South Central State Of Mind has no set release date.

The production is good and Nipsey Hussle is pretty solid. K. Young is a great feature with his hook. Nice West Coast joint

First of all, Nipsey finds a hard hitting west coast beat to spit over once again. The entire style is nothing we haven't heard before; it's not fresh, but it is refreshing. Nipsey's raspy vocals over this nice WC production sort of pay homage to the golden days of West Coast rap. The hook sounds like somethin off a classic track, and the other two rappers sound cool on here too.

um so i unno i think maybe im just havin a bad night cause im listenin to all the tracks and you know the stuff is alright except for that kid cudi song but nothin is really stickin in my head like somethin i would hit the repeat button for so i unno maybe just me but it was just alright

Instantly the song doesn't catch my attention. I'm trying my hardest not to cut it off. (I do that with a lot of songs that I'm not feeling) I kind of like the chorus. Her voice is unique....there's not much I can say about the song. I'm not motivated to continue to listen to it. Compared to everyone else's rating it makes me want to rethink mine....Idk i guess i'm not feeling it like everyone else.(and i listened to the entire song) Its def not going in the pod. THe beat isn't all that bad....i'll give it 2 for that.

When I heard this on his BAGGN2 mixtape, I knew it had the potential to be more than just a throwaway record. Everything about this record is enjoyable: solid WC production, catchy hook work by K. Young, and some throwback vocals on the verses.
Nipsey is up next, make way.

First thing I have to give props on is the chorus. Love it! The production is very nice, though I'm not really a WC guy. Verses are ok, but nothing extremely amazing. All in all, it has replay value, if only for the chorus. In rotation.

This is some lava right here man. Detroit Red is a beast on this one, CLASSIC west coast sound, classic...
I loved the BAGNN mixtapes, but this is one of the tracks on #2 that takes it to another level as Nipsey SHINES on this one (Slauson Boyz respectable showing)...and you know K. Young has another amazing hook when you're head-knockin' and singin' along already the second time it comes around...straight fire. If you ain't heard this mixtapes yet...don't wait. No official date at press time?? Damn... |
