Booth favorite Nipsey Hussle knows he’s got what it takes to succeed on a national level, and, with 13 features under his belt, he’s got just about everyone in the Booth standing behind him. On this cut off Bullets Ain’t Got No Name (Vol. 3), the up-and-comer uses a quote from Biggie‘s Dangerous Emcees to explain what he’ll be doing once he hits it big: “Diamonds on my neck, chrome drop-top. Chillin on the scene…“ The subject matter is just what you’d expect from a Slauson boy with a taste for the gangsta classics, but Hussle elevates the cut with plenty of gritty quotables, and a few oddball gems that take a few spins to truly sink in; the couplet “So-so-ass rappers get no dough/ in the presence of this hip-hop Jacques Cousteau” seems both funnier and smarter with each repeat listen. S1‘s midtempo, piano-driven groove sets the right mood, but the underlying rhythm is a touch off-kilter—personally, I can’t decide if it’s intriguingly different or just kinda confusing. In any case, Hussle fans will want to check back with the Booth this summer, when BAGNN volume three and the emcee’s contribution to our exclusive freestyle series are slated to hit our front page.

This dude NEEDS to blow up already! This man is that next big WC artist to take it to the next generation.
The produdtion is pretty average for me, but that sample is classic. Although how can you hate on a screwed Biggie line... I always hate when rappers talk about the same cliche subjects, but somethin about Nipsey's personality and flow always keeps me interested. His wordplay and punchlines are pretty sick, and I'll be waitin for that freestyle. Richard, I'm gonna lean toward a little confusing on the production tip, and for that reason lean away from the banger button. |

Yeah, this guys time is definitely going to come. I actually kind of dug the production. Different, but cool. The sample was tight and I thought Nipsey flowed pretty well. I'll round up to a 4, because this is pretty damn good for a mixtape track.

He always impresses me because even though he's obviously a WC rapper, he does bring a fresh flow to the game and I love it, nice sample, thought it may be overdone a bit much at first, but now I think its perfect, Nipsey Hussle music is stuff you can bang out the windows

@ Juanito88 - I agree with your opinion on this track, but I cant see Nipsey being the next WC artist to 'blow up', especially when other next generation WC rappers like Bishop Lamont, Clyde Carson & Tyga are making more noise and are (imo) superior rappers (especially Lamont & Carson).
Nipsey has yet to blow me away with any tracks that have been featured here |

Um...hate to rain on the parade, but this track sounded boring. The production sounded childish, and his flow almost put me to sleep. I don't know why people are saying this guy will "blow up." He's no where near that level. I know I am going to get attacked for saying so, but I'm not about to withold my opinion. Sorry. 2 stars. Should be a 1 star, but, whatever.

Although not my favorite sound, I recognize that west side sound and he kills it for what it is.
