Browning Christmas trees, no more presents, I think we’ve all got the post-holiday blues. Lucky for us, L.A. native Nipsey Hussle is here to get us ready for the new year, dropping some pearls of wisdom and words of encouragement in Bigger Than Life, a hidden cut from brand new mixtape The Marathon. With help from a pensive, soft synth provided by Music Korner, an enlightened Nipsey sheds light on life struggles and self-improvement: “But I hope [your passion’s] not material, ‘cause that’s all in illusion.” In addition to the proverb-heavy verses, Hussle’s partner in crime, June Summers, makes an equally impressive contribution, lending his velvety smooth vocals to the chorus and the bridge. From the thoughtful songwriting, to the mood-setting production, Bigger Than Life sounds like a hit to me. What will the Booth think? We’ll find out soon. Nipsey's new "Marathon" mixtape might have been slept on because of its pre-holiday release, but "Bigger Than Life" should serve as solid reminder of what you may have missed. Everything works here, including the excellent hook work of June Summers, who is in line for a bright future.

I was highly dissapointed by Nipsey's most recent mixtape that just dropped. However, this is one of the few standout tracks I enjoy. He switches it up by going in on a lighter-sounding production than the norm. June Summers is dope with the vocals as well. If you dont already know, 2011 is the year that the West Coast music scene blows up with Dom Kennedy, Fashawn, U.N.I., Shawn Chrys, Kendrick Lamar and Nipsey leading the way.

Damn this is a banger right here! Unreal that this is the first time I'm hearing this one here. Nipsey managed to go hard over such a smooth beat and it blended perfectly. That hook gives it a widespread appeal that everyone will enjoy.

nipsey put in some serious lyrical power to accompany this super production work here. As DJ Z would say "A mixtape with songs like this is sure to make waves", sometthing like that anyway haha.

This is the first I am listening to Nipsey and I am impressed. I like the raw lyrics over this smooth production. Nice.

Ever since the Booth put us up on Nipsey I felt like he was the next big thing coming out of the West. If heard tons of his tracks since then, but this is the first time I feel like Nipsey poured all of himself and some real emotion into the track. The slow production was a great backdrop for his earnest lyrics and June added to the sincerity on the hook.

One of the best joints I've heard from Nipsey in a minute. He's really showing a more lyrical side that proves he's an emcee to be reckoned with.
He seems like he's been on the verge of breaking for a while now, maybe this will be the year it finally happens.

Yea i agree with @Nathan S..... This is one of the best i have heard from in a while. This is really great from him. Im really feeling this from him. Its so smooth with a great feel of energy on his verses. and his verses have very deep, thoughtful lyrics. The production from Music Korner is really great. Nipsey out did himself in this. Great work. A banger, no doubt.
