Nipsey Hussle - Army All By Myself ft. Jay Rock, 2pac & June Summers
Artist: Nipsey Hussle
Featuring: Jay Rock , June Summers , 2pac
Producer: Bang Out and Jonny Shipes
Album: Bullets Ain't Got No Name (Volume 3)
Label: All Money In
Currently preparing to drop Vol. 3 of his Bullets Ain’t Got No Name mixtape series, Nipsey Hussle is back in the house with a brand new record. Though the Slauson boy has titled his latest Booth feature Army All By Myself, he has one of hip-hop’s late greats, as well as another loyal street soldier backing him up – in addition to enlisting Jay Rock for an opening verse, Hu$$le pays tribute to his roots by sampling an unreleased verse by the West Coast legend to end all legends, 2pac. All Money In collaborator June Summers once again handles hook duty, and Bang Out and Jonny Shipes complete the picture with midtempo, keyboard-and-funk bass beat. Bullets Ain’t Got No Name Vol. 3 is set to hit the ‘net in May, paving the way for the summer release of South Central State of Mind. In addition, DJBooth.net will be co-sponsoring the spring release of Cinematic‘s Good Talk Radio mixtape, which will be hosted by All-Star weekend Slam Dunk contest winner Nate Robinson.

Liking the hook on this one kind of catchy. The 2pac sample is hot on this joint too.

This is different than what I expected by just looking at the names of the artists on the track. The production is light and made me nod my head. Jay and Hussle both did they thing on here. Tupac was fire as always, but the sample did sound a bit outta place on this track. Banger, nonetheless...

Most of the newer records to use Pac samples, recycled hooks or old samples upset me. Hussle and his people did this with taste, dignity and entertainment at the forefront. Jay Rock is no slouch either, real solid opening verse.
Bring on Bullets Vol. 3! |

While the 2Pac sample makes me wanna listen to the song again, it also makes me totally forget about Jay Rock and Nipsey. Let me copy and paste part of DJ Z's comment real quick: "Most of the newer records to use Pac samples, recycled hooks or old samples upset me." This is no exception in my book. It just leaves you wanting to hear some more 2Pac........

Nipsey keeps coming with hot tracks! Big shouts to the Left Coast for this one. Dope production & lyrics. The fact that Dujeous' own Taylormade played guitar on this joint is just icing on the cake. Salute.
