Nikki & Rich - City Lights
Artist: Nikki & Rich
Featuring: Fabolous
Producer: Rich Skillz
Album: Untitled (TBD)
Label: Reprise Records/Born Rich Inc.
“I get toe, I-I get toe up under…” Oh, right, different song. Don’t let the fact that the Pimp C-sampled hook from Meth & Red‘s ‘09 hit has taken up permanent residence in my brain distract you from the pop appeal Nikki & Rich bring to the table on this City Lights, a new single which finds the Reprise duo offering a somewhat less blunted perspective on the city-at-night theme. Here, producer Rich Skillz’ atmospheric blend of piano and reverb-drenched handclaps sets the stage for Nikki Leonti‘s heartbroken pleas to a lost love who has left her to “waste away” under the light of the glittering skyline. Big Apple mainstay Fabolous responds to her melodramatic but vocally powerful performance with a few encouraging words, delivering a middle verse laced with motivational quotables: “I’m just happy to be real in a world that’s mad fake / that can’t stop me, my life’s got bad brakes.” Like what you’re hearing? Keep it locked – Nikki & Rich’s forthcoming full-length has yet to receive a title or a solid release date, but we’ll be sure to bring you all the latest news and tunes.

Nikki & Rich have been on our radar for quite some time, but none of there previously-heard records really fit the Booth mold. Enter Fabolous - whose witty 16 is perfect for the R&B/Pop segment.
While Rich's production work is solid, Nikki's vocals elevate the record. |

As a duo these two have potential. I think the production was the highlight and Loso's verse was pretty good. Nikki has a nice voice, nuff said.

I gotta say this is so refreshing , a song that balances a real singer with sick production but doesnt feel like a record without substance with only the intention of being catchy or radio. I hope this thang blow up. Deserves it!

Man, nice turnaround, earlier stuff had that British 60's R&B sound, Next Best Thing was nice, but this is a great record!

As some have said up above this is a nice refreshing song. Catchy, with impressive production from Rich Skillz. Fabolous fits in nice with the record.

I think Loso’s verse was the best part of the song, but I still enjoyed it.

Nice record. I really love the hook from them and the production was a good back set. Loso's part just upgraded the song.
