Nike Nando - Might Take Forever
Artist: Nike Nando
Producer: Nike Nando
Album: Love Day
Label: Unsigned
Feeling run-down? Need a little pick-me-up? Well, you’ve come to the right place; I don’t know how he did it, but Nike Nando seems to have captured a ray of sunshine on wax with his latest single, Might Take Forever. Here, the DMV up-and-comer previously glimpsed on Dre-Ski‘s Music & Sound gives a full demonstration of his talents, cooking up an cheery indie-pop instrumental (anyone I.D. that oddly-familiar sample?) as he celebrates how far he’s come since his early days as an elementary-school student rhyming to impress female classmates (with mixed results). On the back, he acknowledges his past mistakes but keeps his focus on the labors that lie ahead, resolving to “Learn by example, do the right thing, be able to take all the challenges life brings.” With an irresistibly catchy sound and a positive message to boot, this cut seems destined to earn heavy rotation among fans of upbeat, left-of-center freshness. Those craving more should keep it locked for the latest on Love Day, which will be released to the net on February 21.

Not usually a fan of rap music with an overtly-country twang (save Nappy Roots), but Nike Nando managed to pull it off nicely on "Might Take Forever." Rather impressive first release of his forthcoming project. Promising for the future.

Now this is strange...the folksy beat might be a turn-off for some, but I found it refreshing, and it's pretty cheery.
I actually got some of my more rock-oriented friends to listen to this...definitely a genre buster. Definitely give it a try! @richard: That sample sound like some sort of an Irish folktune-not that I know much about those. |

This is a very good song. Production and exuction are enough to get it 4 stars. The powerful message behind it brings it to 5. Hard to find songs with this kind of meaning anymore.

From reading the reviews before I hit play, I was skeptical/excited about this track. The excitement kicked the skepticism to the curb though, because I was really impressed. The guys have mad talent and I'm really feeling the style and sound of the record. I'm always one for experimenting and going outside the box, and in this scenario is paid off.

I don't know if I'd call that sample country, but whatever you call it, it's clearly got the potential to attract a very wide audience. Props to Nike for making some music outside the proverbial box, and letting us have a pretty damn good time while we're at it.

Pretty cool. I dig a positive message grounded in realism. Success needs struggle in order to reveal itself.
