Nicki Minaj - Roman's Revenge 2.0
Artist: Nicki Minaj
Featuring: Lil Wayne
Producer: Swizz Beatz
Album: Pink Friday
Label: YM/CM/Universal Motown
Two months after the release of the most successful female emcee album in over a decade, Pink Friday still has the game in a frenzy. Whether it was the Euro-pop songs that had you dancing, or the out-of-nowhere lyrical slaughter in her Monster verse, Nicki has made a major impact in the game. Now, with a remix of her alter ego’s smash hit Roman’s Revenge, Nicki decided to switch Eminem off the track and replace him with Young Money head honcho Lil Wayne; but is it better? Produced by Swizz Beatz, which anyone can tell since it’s the same drum pattern as Busta Rhymes’ Touch It, we still get the same love ‘em or hate ‘em Nicki verses, but either way since they’re unchanged let’s just skip over to Wayne’s part. As far as Weezy’s flow goes, he sounds like he is back on the same style he was using for his We Taking Over verse. Although a bit whiney, his forever tempo changing and hard emphasizing punch line rap style fits the song quite well. Whether or not it’s actually better than Eminem’s original verse is completely your decision though. Well? Is it?

Its hard to beat the original version... and this definitely falls short. Maybe if Wayne led off 2.0? Maybe if Nicki had written a new verse (or two)? Maybe, if they had kept Em on board and added Wayne? Maybe if Wayne wasn't locked up for the release of Nicki's debut? Maybe...

Why is this called 2.0 instead of just a remix. It's really just one new Wayne with Em's verses taken off. Other than that, same beat and Nicki verse. The orginial is still better, Wayne sounds rushed but he did drop some nice punchlines. But if your goning to call a song 2.0 why not make it a new song? Switching out rappers is just a remix nowadays.

All right if you dont compare this to the original and judge them both sepertley there both good.
I would of liked in 2.0 to wayne just spit on the verse then maybe make it a bonus track on the Carter IV |

hip hop is soundin more and more suburban... its supposed to be the voice of the inner city but cant deny it the line between hip hop and pop is becoming more and more blurred

Better? No way. Waynes verse is just average compared to Em's.

Yeah it just adds Wayne's verse, but it's still hot for what it is. Who says this has to be compared to the original? It's obvious that Wayne heard the shit when he was in the pen and just wanted to be on it now that he's got out. This shit, if anything, will be mix in with the original for an awesome, Minaj, Em, and Wayne tracks. At least that's what I'm gonna do.

New verses would have been nice from Nicki for this "2.0". Wayne works well on the track and his verse was hard but better than Em? Nah...

Yes this is a Nicki track but when you have an Em and Weezy verse on the same track it's only natural to see who got the better of who. IMO Weezy takes the cake here.

First, @Guerrilla Tactics - of course it has to be compared to the original. "Who's the dope emcee?" is one of the fundamental questions in hip-hop, and remixes like this give us the best chance to debate those questions (same beat, same amount of bars, it's a level playing field).
With that said, this was a solid performance from Wayne, but he can do better, and it's certainly not enough to knock Em off. Weezy F's a close second, but a second nonetheless. |

Since this is a "remix" I have to judge them both. The first one is good and this one is equally the same. In this analysis I realised something, it was Em and Wayne that made each of these a hit. Nicki is dope but if this was an Em and Wayne track it would be sick. Infact all three together would be nicer.

Remixes are made to improve the original version, and all things considered it is just not done with this remix.

This 2.0 remix seems like a Microsoft windows upgrade, the newer version is worse than the older one which was bad anyway.

Original version was easily listenable, but this version didn't go anywhere with wayne. It could've been a lot better if all three were in the lineup for the song.

okay guys i see a lot of you are comparing this track to the original and i guess i wont do anything but follow suit. to be honest i didnt really like the original expected more from both nicki and eminem on this track i would only put it in rotation because wayne is on the track.because of that i give it a 3 star not one of my favorite tracks.

The original version was the bomb. This one doesn't even compare. Also taking into consideration that the original one has 4 verses and the new one has 3 verses, the original one gives you more to critique and enjoy. Plus, as we all know, Eminem is way better than Lil Wayne.
