Lollipop wielding, controversy stirring, eagle stance posing Nicki Minaj is everywhere. She may not be Mrs. Aubrey Drake Graham (a rumor recently started from a post on her Twitter page), but Minaj seems to be managing plenty of success on her own. It’s hard to deny that Nicki’s spotlight is bright, but it seems like this Young Money princess’ future is even brighter. Check It Out is Ms. Minaj’s way of making it known that she is on the scene whether you like or not, and you better get used to it: “Stepped up in the party like my name was ‘that b*tch’ / All these haters mad because I’m so established.” Behind the boards, the signature will.i.am production style is evident throughout as the bouncing, heavily pop-influenced beat and high-pitched chorus offset Minaj’s fast-paced lyrics and heavy vocal tone, resulting in a song that has commercial appeal smothered all over it. Check It Out is rumored to be Minaj’s new single of her upcoming album, Pink Friday (set to drop November 23), and is sure to be on radio repeat for some time to come.

After a quick Google search it seems that this record is getting hated on all over the blogosphere. After a few listens I am not sure why. For Nicki its perfect. Like will.i.am did for Usher with "OMG," this will get major play in the clubs and the mixshows.

Way too much will.i.am for my liking...are you sure this isn't his record?! Definitly agree with Z, the first thing I thought of was Usher's 'OMG'...this should get her another massive pop record... 3.5 stars

this isnt the nicki i like but i think its the track that will make her a known artist down here in australia. as everyone else has said, its got that 'OMG' feel to it but in my opinion cant fully compete with Usher's smash, close though 3.5 and rounding down

I can't believe that she is sampling The Buggles!?!?! What none of you realized that? "Video Killed The Radio Star"???Well anyway, I like this, but it is just a little too dumbed down for me. The auto-tune is extremely annoying. Also the lyrics aren't that good either. Personally I like "Your Love" better. Who knows maybe this will grow on me. It already gets a 3 stars for sampling a band that had the first music video on MTV.

@DJ Z You're not sure why this record is getting hated on? Really?
I have absolutely no hate for Nicki on the whole, but this is terrible. That "video killed the radio star" sample is like driving a nail into my skull and Nicki and will's auto-tuned verses are painful. But knowing will.i.am it will still be a #1 hit. Oh well.

I can see decent radio and club success.
However, I'm not fond of this record; way too much will.i.am; it almost seems like a will.i.am feat. Nicki Minaj song instead. Nicki Minaj actually has vocal chops; I don't like seeing her cower behind auto-tune, as does will.i.am Both had unpleasant effects on my ears. |

DJ Rater made a really good point, this track will most probably become an international hit for Nicki. I know in Australia anything will.i.am or Black Eyed Peas associated gets major airplay (which is why I HATE the sound of will.i.ams voice!)

will.i.am is an absolute killer on the beats. he is as top of the line wen it comes to the clubs as it gets.
thats right. Polow or Jim Jonsin or J.R. Rotem cant match will.i.am on the club beats. the rest is ku, but im not impressed. i wish he woulda given this beat to Fergie for a solo single. this might end up bein a hit, but if it was Fergie's it would be guaranteed. im thinkin 3 stars, but wen that beat comes on in the clubs it will be a diff story. |

Wow... "Video Killed The Radio Star"? Best sample for her in my opinion.. It's upbeat, versatile, plus I think Nicki would have listened to this song if she were into this kind of music.. :D Finally an artist who payed hommage to the kings of MTV :D The Buggles were the first artist/band to have their video on MTV.. :D TY DJBooth.net for putting this song on the site. :D
