Here’s a hip-hop koan for you: if bling shines on a rapper’s neck and no one’s around to be dazzled, doesn’t that kinda defeat the purpose of wearing it? Booth newcomer Nickelus F. seems to think so; on this unreleased cut (recorded for a collabo mixtape with Drake that never materialized), he kindly requests that all within eyeshot Look At The Ice on his wrist, ears, neck… well, pretty much everywhere. It might not be the freshest concept out there, but the colorful imagery the up-and-comer delivers here more than makes up for it—in the craziest diamond-related simile I’ve heard since Weezy bragged about having “red barf on [his] neck,” the Richmond emcee spits “Pink and yellow diamonds got me lookin’ like a grapefruit.” And “I draw eyes like I’m painting a face.” is too dope not to mention. Though I’d rank Nick as the lyrical MVP on this record, Drake’s Booth-acclaimed flow is sure to earn Look At The Ice a little extra shine, and Best I Ever Had producer Boi-1da’s brassy, bottom-heavy beat couldn’t be more fitting. i like his flow, and the beat. the hook is a lil rushed and crowded. and OF COURSE DRAKE came hard on the track.

Very dope joint that I heard a while ago.
All of Drake and Nickelus F's collabs have been classic epic proportions. Ironically, "Room for Improvement" (Drake's first mixtape, hosted by DJ Smallz and Southern Smoke) has been in rotation in the official YOUNG SON IPOD all week. I advise you to go download it if you haven't. Along with the tracks "A Scorpio's Mind", "AM 2 PM" and "Money (Remix), this can be added to the list. |

Agree with MH, these two have put in work. Everything that I get from Nic (and its a lot of material weekly) is real solid. The hook is the song's shortcoming, but overall an enjoyable listen.

i hate it when the hook ruins a song, the beat is dirty and the verses are done well, but i cant stand the hook ... Whats the rush,son?!?
Just like @Aussie_Pride idkw but something is holdin me down to completely jump on the Drake bandwagon & endorse it somethin like MH (be it a c-box or a djbooth post) :p or maybe its my fondness for other New Generation Rappers' music ~XV~ which accordin to me deserves an equal amount of recognition & appreciation from audience ... |

Drake is everywhere lately, damn. Check out every other hip hop blog/website, dude is on his grind. This was a solid effort from both him and Nickelus, but nothing to get me over the top. I will def keep it in rotation, but it was more of a record to build the buzz already surrounding the 2.

Not Drizzy's best work. This beat annoys me. No more ice talk for my eardrums. Hook is terrible. Drake makes this son@ worth listenin to. The blend makers need to snatch this verse an put it on a better track. Nuff said.

Nickelus does ok but his verses dont grab my attention!! On the other hand Drake is my favorite rapper out right now but he could of done a little better with his verse!! He's usually really crafty with his wordplay but on here he just spits on the record as if he didnt even try!! Usually he has you OOin and AWEin with his wordplay!!
Beat is good, hook is kinda annoying, overall OK |

While this production doesn't quite blow me away, I do bump. The verses are where this track shines. The lyricism is pretty nice, even tho the subject matter is tired. For some reason, wit these cats it doesnt bother me much. The hook is OK, not horrible but not great.

sick rhythm and overall idea, but the thing that makes songs like this (i got all this money type songs) is the hook. Plus, if you got nothin to show for, its hard to believe you really have ice. it makes my diamonds seem fake.
