2009 debut album Skinny Jeans and a Mic may not have earned the New Boyz Booth acclaim, but it does seem to have made them a healthy amount of cash; today, Legacy and Ben J make their return to our front page with the lead single off their forthcoming follow-up, a joint which finds them ready, willing and able to “Break My Bank” in order to fulfill a special lady’s every desire. With a sugary string-synth beat by Matt Squire, along with the catchy-as-ever hook vocals of Virgin Islands-bred hitmaker I.Y.A.Z., this track falls squarely on the pop-R&B side of the New Boyz’ oeuvre, but the duo don’t take that as an excuse to slack on the lyrical tip – rather than resorting to high-rolling cliché, the Boyz deliver verses that any guy who has struggled to balance his bank account with female demands will be able to relate to. Those who like what they’re hearing can look forward to more fresh new tunes from the West Coast hip-popsters on sophomore full-length Too Cool to Care, scheduled to hit stores sometime this September.

When the New Boyz "broke out" with two successful, charting singles I cannot say I was surprised, but at the same time I doubted their ability to see success in the long run.
Now, we are on to the next one (yo, Jay!)... and again I have my doubts. Not sure they'll be able to prove me wrong again, but who knows these days?

Not going to catch on like "You're a Jerk" and it isn't as much of a banger as "Crickets" but its not necessarily a step back either. Looking forward to hearing more from the Boyz.

Decent song. IYAZ will really help this one in terms of radio play. This is really catchy enough to be a hit. I can't see it being huge but it'll receive its fair share of plays. All in all, pretty good collaboration all things considered.

I don't want to be one of those grumpy old guys who hates on everything the kids are listening to, but I'd be lying if I said I enjoyed this one, at all.

The beat is definitely bubblegum, and Iyaz is probably gonna definitely push this up to radio-ready.
Yeah, definitely radio-ready now that I listened to it again. If it hits mainstream radio, I'd expect it to chart around 40-ish. Verses are nothing great. They're just fillers that make up the song. One star down due to that. If not, I expect this to be played quite frequently. |

i honestly thought New Boyz were done after their 1st cd. i think im wrong. this is a good start (commercially) to getting back on the charts and releasing a second album. gotta say, im pleasantly surprised here.
