New Boyz - Better With The Lights Off

There are a lot of people out there, and I’ll be honest and included myself among them, who thought the New Boyz wouldn’t last long after their smash You’re a Jerk exploded onto the charts. But group members Ben J and Legacy have proven the doubters wrong, maintained a presence in the game, and are looking to once again find hit single magic with new release Better With the Lights Off. Club/pop/rap hybrid specialists The Cataracs work the production here, serving up an appropriately light and simple beat for the Boyz to bounce over; and bounce they do, laying down auto-tuned verses that find them moving into grown and sexy territory. Add in a hook from Chris Brown, which, I have to say, is kind of hilarious – “Hope you don’t take this the wrong way, but you look better with the lights off” – and you’ve got a combination radio should eat up. As for the Booth? Whether you love it or hate it, it doesn’t really matter. The New Boyz are Too Cool to Care – hence the title of their upcoming sophomore album, due to drop on May 17.

Out of all the singles that have dropped off of the upcoming album, I have to say my favorites thus far are "Crush On You" and "Better With the Lights Off." Legacy and Ben-J have officially converted me to a fan, which was honestly something that I never expected to happen two years ago. Good stuff!

Gonna make an impact amongst the young hipsters but I am afraid it doesnt appeal to me. I guess its too pop, and I do like pop, but it sounds like sumn I would expect from the movie "Prom".

im have never been a fan of the catarac's production credit's there just way to overly pop for my taste i definely could see younger crowd of people listing to this song but for me it's just blah , i will say that chris brown was a good feature on this track

I think this is the New Boyz lane. I like this a little better than Backseat. Chris Brown sounded pretty decent. I see they are working with the Cataracts alot.
