New Orleans producer, emcee and engineer Nesby Phips has never been one to stand still, hence his new release Changes in support of his forthcoming Life With Options project. The song, which was produced by Phips himself, has a very laid back feel, backed by a soulful vocal sample that echoes the track’s title. Phips, whose voice is slightly reminiscent of Andre 3K, delivers a positive song full of lessons for the listener. New Orleans, not traditionally known for providing the hip-hop game with lyricists, clearly has another side to their scene with the meteoric emergence of Jay Electronica and others, like Phips, trying to rise above the swamp and indeed live Life With Options.
