After finding relative success with their ‘03 debut, In Search Of…, and its ‘04 follow-up, Fly or Die, funk-rock brainchild of the Neptunes, N*E*R*D, returns this June with its third studio album, Seeing Sounds. Judging by the first two singles, Everyone Nose and Spaz, it seems as if beatsmiths Pharrell Williams, Chad Hugo, and Shay Haley have stopped at nothing to innovate their already unique sound. As its title suggests, Spaz is a four-minute thrash-around of pure energy, packed with unapologetically loud percussion and excited snare bursts. Following the tradition of most N*E*R*D tracks, the beat takes center stage while Pharrell’s lyrics serve more as an embellishment. In support of the album, the fellas are currently the opening act on Kanye’s Glow in the Dark Tour.
Its about time we hear a new NERD album. The last one was good. The beat on here is classic Star Trek $hit! I like the mashup of hip-hop and Rock here. This can go into rotation. I'm feelin it!
I love NERD, but from the new stuff I've heard from them their beats sound a little too complicated. Not really feelin this one either, which kind of sucks.
This is material you need to see LIVE to appreciated. N*E*R*D is amazing in concert -- since they actually play instruments, instead of just using a sole DJ -- and has A LOT of impressive material on this new album. Watch out!
mann...why do these guys think that these beats are stepping out of the box and original..??? ahaha mann these beats are dumb, you can't jam to this at all...this is my opinion for those who enjoy it im not hating on that - to each his own. but this is definetly not for me and the neptunes need to get back to making sick music that you can jam to...not dumb music like this... this is what you call a waste of talent....and thats a damn shame. i'd rate this a zero but there is no zero so ill just give it a 1.
This isn't bad, to me it's different! But if I was a dj, I wouldn't probably put it in rotation! Sounds a bit boring for a club...I've heard worse, though
No one wants to like NERD’s tracks more than I do, they are extremely talented and props deserving guys. I saw them LIVE and I completely understand what Z means! But… :s once again (like with Everyone nose), this song just doesn’t sound pleasing enough (or at all to some of you, and i cant blame ya). The bridge comes like a relief… It’s funny that NERD is actually considered an alternative rock band on Wikipedia, so don’t be surprised by the rock feel.
i think this beat is hot n fresh. im diggin dis track rite here. Yall have to open yall mind to other types of music u kno. this song sound like a track dat would be gud 4 breakdancers or sum @*#$! (dat means all da ppl dat cant dance need to get off da floor). i luv dis track its gonna be bangin in ma car 4 Sho.
The beat is pretty tight. I'm a fan of pretty much anything that Pharrell and The Neptunes do so I had to check this out. Unlike most ppl, I'm actually a fan of Pharrell's singing voice (kind of lol). He always makes it go well with the song, even if he isn't that amazing. Anyway, this is pretty tight. It wouldn't hurt if it was on the album.
I saw them in concert with Kanye's Glow In The Dark Tour and they are way better than most people would know...through computer speakers they might not sound like much but they have much talent...this song I'm not feelin though at all I like the rock vibe but its not coming through much on this track
the only thing that's stopping it from being five stars is the verses. the verses just don't have enough life for the production. but the production is crazy
the rock and hip hop infusion is way too wicked! of course, if you're a nerd fan u know that the lyrics are not the centerpiece..it's all in that sound! killed it
Fully Sick, no more needs to be said. NERD merge my two favorites genres seemingly effortlessly, easily the best group in the Funk Rock Genre at the moment
