This past November, Nelly and the label executives at Universal Motown decided to delay the release of the rapper’s new album, Brass Knuckles. After several more delays since the top of this year, the album seems to have settled in nicely to its current drop date of August 19. With three records currently saturating the mainstream marketplace (Party People, Stepped On My J’z, and Body On Me), it seems as though the iconic Midwest native might have pushed himself over the top with a fourth. On Long Night, Nelly and his Atlanta compadre Usher go back and forth over a mid-tempo beat from Mr. Love In This Club‘s little brother, J. Lack. While the song’s theme has been used and re-used quite a bit over the last… I don’t know… forever, the collaboration seems to capture both artists’ musical strength. For Nelly’s sake, let’s hope his nights aren’t long for much longer.
Note: The streaming of “Long Night” has temporarily been suspended.

Whenever nelly does his 'pop-rap' attempt (remember wadsyame) it always flops, not even usher can salvage this.

Man, I love J Lack's production. I don't know if y'all recall, but back in 2006, J Lack produced the original version of Lupe Fiasco's "Kick Push II" and it was so much more epic and better than the newer version, although that still bangs as well. Let me know if y'all want me to send that you y'all. NOW....To this track....THIS IS HOT! It's the best thing I've heard Usher on in a long time, and that includes HIS new tracks as well. This is some smooth stuff. Nelly finally brings it too. This is so hot! This is probably one of the hottest rap/singing collabs with Usher since "Lovers and Friends". Smooth all around.

this is alright but for the caliber of these two im disappointed...i feel nelly needs to go back to the days of country grammar or even nellyville, i think he tryin to hard at tryin to capture more of the mainstream listen by going commercial, evident in his last 2 album sweat and suit with the MANY guest apperance...nelly should go back to his roots

This may be my favorite nelly song in a long time. I suddenly think this album may be better than I inatilly thought. The production on this is incrediblly smooth. I can see myself bumpin this often. Usher can do no wrong. This is somethin I will be playin with my girl!

This track is mad hot. It's been a LONG time since Nelly's come out with something like this. And Usher just fits right into the groove of this track. The intro just really set the track right off, first 30secs and I knew the track was gonna be hot. I like how Nelly reminds us of what he's capable of and also attempts to bring something fresh in his repertoire.

Feeling this. Usher betta keep doing it and Nelly brought it. Sexy, strong, definitely a song for grinding and getting close in the club or the bedroom. Nelly hasn't been doing it for me lately here, but this song is persuading m, 4 stars.

This song is crazy hot. I mean, Nelly's voice is a joke compared to Ushers, and the concept is original, but for some reason I am loving this song! The production is just insane and Usher and Nelly is a collabo thats been way overdue!!!BANGER!

gone are the days when artists could hold a song on their own. a single feat. Fergie, pretty much a flop. One with Ciara & J.D., flop. guess what will happen with this lukewarm shit...it's not only the songs flopped, they aren't really great to me

its smooth. i like it. ..nelly has his haters.. but u gotta respect him. i just think he set his bar so high with country grammer that its been hard 2 match that since.. and people realize this. people just always expect really big things from derrty and rightfully so. i feel hes always tryin 2 change his game up and thats cool but, he should go back to his roots. but hate on him or not hes still 1 of the best rappers out there. even a hater can admit that.

The beat is hot thanks to J. Lack! He's definitely on my radar after hearing standout tracks like Lloyd's "Get It Shawty" and Usher's "Lifetime." Nelly didn't wow me here, but he did pretty good. Usher definitely stole the show and I wish he had done more on the song. I'm not sure it'll be a big radio hit, but I do see it being one of the better tracks on the album. Definitely the best song he's he's come out with for this album so far.
