Neako - Suicide (Remix)
Artist: Neako
Featuring: Shawn Chrystopher , Phil Adé , Yelawolf , Smoke DZA
Producer: Neako
Album: The Rubix Cube Blue.5 Edition
Label: LVLYSL / iHipHop Distribution
I’ve never had the patience to memorize whatever magical set of twists and turns solves the classic puzzle, but it’s clear from the behavior of Rubik’s Cube aficionados that the things are damned addictive – once it’s unscrambled, you just have to re-scramble it and solve it again. Perhaps that explains why Neako‘s decided to drop another iteration of his Rubix Cube: Blue Edition mixtape, complete with seven brand new tracks. Whatever the case, if Suicide (Remix) is any indication, the project will be one dope retread. Backed by the artist’s own gritty synth-bass boardwork and featuring guest bars from Inglewood favorite Shawn Chrystopher, DMV native Phil Adé, Trunk Muzik rapper Yelawolf, singer/emcee Smoke DZA and Booth newcomer Stalley, this revamp could hardly be said to have a weak link. If I were to pick a strong link, however, Yela would be it – just as he did on the most recent remix of Luda‘s How Low, the Alabama up-and-comer comes with enough furiously-flowed lyrical ammunition to blow a small army to pieces. Agree with my assessment? Disagree? Either way, those who like what they’re hearing will want to keep it locked for the latest on The Rubix Cube: Blue.5 Edition.

Beware artists: If you ask YelaWolf to spit a hot 16 (or 8 in this case) on your new record, accept the fact he might outshine you on your own record. I am not saying that happened here, but I am not NOT saying it didn't happen. Make sense?
EDITED: Rating changed from "4" to a "3" (and yes, it does sound unmastered to me too). |

I had a hunch when I saw the title this wasn't going to be something I was likley to ever play again, turns out I was right.

Definitely agree with the assessment, besides Yelawolf noone else's contribution is repeat-worthy

Z, picking up what you're laying down. Can't say that everyone didn't come hard, though. One of the better full collab. songs I've heard in awhile

Ok, so it's not Illmatic, but I;m not understanding all the hate. Production banged, though sounded too raw, and while most of the emcees didn't blow me away, Yela's spitfire style alone was worth the listen.

I listened to this again (three more times actually) and decided that I did over-rate it. I am going to drop my rating down to a 3.

Not a fan, but I will say a lot of that is because I'm not buying yelawolfs whole story...ive spent a lil bit of time looking up all of his work and Im just not buying it. Everything about him other then he's southern annoys the shit outta me.

That beat bangs and Shawn Chrystopher and YelaWolf killed. YelaWolf was in a new time zone. I could see him on some Bone Thugs-N-Harmony tracks. Neako Beat and YelaWolf flow makes this one a banger.

Yela goes HARD. when you think his sick verse is coming to an end it only gets better. He gets 5 stars. The production gets whack as the track goes on.
