Neako - Resume & Name
Artist: Neako
Producer: Neako
Album: Rubix Cube: Yellow Edition
Label: LVLYSL / iHipHop Distribution
Considering it hasn’t even been a month since Neako brought us his reader-acclaimed reimagining of Lords of the Underground classic Chief Rocka, I think it’s safe to assume the Jersey native and his accomplishments are fresh in readers’ memory, But hey, there’s nothing wrong with being reminded – at least when said reminder is as fresh as newly-leaked mixtape cut Resume & Name. Appropriately for a braggadocious track like this one, the exclusive freestyle series alumnus takes the opportunity to show off his skills on both sides of the boards, pairing a chopped and screwed sample with slow-rolling, Flexatone-heavy production as he gives us the lowdown on his ceaseless grind, his high performance on the mic, and (especially) his insatiable appetite for weed. Whether or not you knew Neako’s name before today, this cut should ensure it sticks with you for the foreseeable future; if you like what you’re hearing, be sure to check back with us on July 23, when the artist adds a new street album, the Booth-sponsored Rubix Cube: Yellow Edition, to his musical résumé.

To be honest, songs like "Resume and Name" fall into our inbox at the Booth daily. So, as an artist, how can you separate yourself from the pack while talking about the same things as your neighbor? For starters, appear as confidently as Neako does here. Second, create a production backdrop with gusto that speakers will fall in love with. And third, pull it all together nicely.

one positive about neako is that he produces his own stuff which makes me respect him even more. second of all he really stands up and says "here i am, im here to stay". great song

I know part of this track's appeal is how stripped down it is, but there's just not enough here for me to ever really engage. Maybe if the intro wasn't so long I could have sustained interest, but I just couldn't feel this.

This is a really BAD track. The annoying voice over, the bleepy production, just everything, and Neako was very generic and uninteresting.

I agree with The 149th. I wish I could say the voice over ruined the song but all it did was make it slightly worse...

This song goes hard. The beat is ridiculous! This gets me pumped up before a game!
