Neako‘s dentist would be proud – on his latest mixtape single, the Jersey-based emcee proudly announces that “Every day I been Flossin’.” I mean, I been flossin’twice a day for a while now… but still, it’s a damn good start! With that obvious (and terrible) joke out of the way, this joint is less a personal hygiene manifesto a la Del’s If You Must as it is a uniquely thoughtful grind anthem, with a side of weed rap. Here, the freestyle series alumnus’ dreamy yet ominous, brass-accented production sets the stage for bars jam-packed with ambitious braggadocio and weed talk, as well as a few more personal revelations – including some reflections on the way in which his father’s death influenced his hustle. The record’s guest muscle, Three 6 Mafia member Juicy J, doesn’t reach quite that level of emotional depth, but he does accomplish the notable feat of sending me running to Wikipedia with his very first line (“Diamonds shinin’ like glycerol…”). As ambitious as it is blunted, this cut is just one of many fresh tunes slated for inclusion on Neako’s LOUDpack: Tree [LP:TREE], due out later this week.

Neako is different. He's unique. None of his music can be labled as sounding like another artists. That's why I like him.

Nice work on the production. You gotta respect an artist/producer. I like the album art here too. Kinda looks like cartoon version of Will Smith there. Juicy J didn't do much for me here, but overall a decent offering.

You expect Neako's material to be a little more left of center and experimental and "Flossin" doesn't fit either description. I am not sure the vibe and the production match the title/theme, but the song is pretty entertaining and worthy of a repeat listen.

The beat was nice but it doesnt fit the title nor does it fit the lyrics. It sounds like a Kid Cudi track to me. I could hear Cudi spitting sumn different over this production.
But this not about Cudi. Neako and Juicy were ok and the beat was good. |

These beat is pretty intense for a track about flossin. I feel like given how epic the production was, the lyrics and flow should have been more serious or meaningful. The hook is ok, but it gets drowned out by the beat, much like a majority of this song. I found myself listening to the beat more than the lyrics. Juicy doesn't really bring a whole lot to the track either. It's ok though.
