During my youth my parents would often instill words of wisdom, advice, and knowledge into my ever-expanding cranium. Somewhere in between the shoe-tying lessons and dinner table etiquette speech, I will always remember a very important practice they preached; never storm out of the house, hang up the phone, or go to sleep mad at those you love the most. Clearly, Ne-Yo is a product of a solid upbringing, as this very message is at the heart of his forthcoming third single, Mad, from the recently-released near-classic of an album, Year of the Gentleman. Over production work from frequent collaborator, Stargate, the Arkansas-born singer/songwriter’s harmonizing over his own layered vocals will undoubtedly lead to many relationships being mended. Mad has been sent to radio stations nationwide for the week of October 14.
I listened to this song on the album, and I instantly loved it! although it's not my favorite, I like this song very much, and I could listen to it over, and over, and over again. It never gets old, and it's just a little sample of Ne-Yo's musical intelligence. Although I do I'll love almost anything by Ne-Yo, it's just his lyrics...they're touching.
Well put together as usual. Ne-yo is in his element here. alil soft for my taste, but it doesn't take away from the greatness of the song. The lyrics fullness of sound, all here. Very well done. I can actually relate to this at the moment. lol
awwwwww damn, itz ne-yo....what can i hate on??...x-actly- nuth-n. he'z got such a good voice and yeah hiz lyricz r alwayz touching. Luv ya baby=) good job- keep do-n ur thang!!
BANGERR!!!!!! Stargate & Ne-Yo both did an AMAZING job on this, Ne-Yo has really showed up what hes made of, and IMO he IS the next Usher, Its hard to name a clear best song on his album, because there are just so many that are amazingly "tuned" and produced, Ne-Yo is becoming one of my favorite R&B artists besides a few others, and rising more quickly in others eyes as well, he makes songs that can make people get there relationship back together, make you dance at the clubs, and ones that are just clearly incredible to listen to, Ne-Yo will be here to stay for a LONGG time!
Smooth production as always on Ne-Yo joints! He definitely jammed and slammed this one! It's like he dipped it a a bowl of "classic status" juice and just let it marinate. This is one of the best joint I've ever heard from R&B lately! 5 stars off top! Co-sign if you say Ne-Yo is smashing Usher's fame right now! I think so!
yo this song is hard nice smooth beat great lyrics by ne-yo this is actually one of my favorites tracks off the album.and like dude bdf44 said up top I can actually relate to it right now.
Wow....this is probably one of the best R & B songs I have heard this year. When Ne-Yo puts his mind into making a pure slow jam, I don't know if anyone makes one better.
i'm a ne-yo fan i must say...and i love his new album...itz almost classic 2 me...and i started bouncinand vibin 2 dis song wen it started...i'm gladd dat dis will b his next single...it'll b a hit 4 sho ! !
Everything about this track is the perfect definiton of a classic. The lyrics are soft but deep at the same time. The beat and the piano melody is hot!! Many people can relate to this in real life. Nice chill song!! Classic Ne-Yo ... 5 stars without a doubt
NE-YO album is F F F HOT, if u havnt DL or herd it u missin out...even his mix tape was HOT therez a song in it that reminds me of this song..its called in the way HOT HOT HOT
Not as enthusiastic about this song as other reviewers. Don't get me wrong, Ne-Yo is the king of R&B right now but this is not a classic and isn't his best song. There is a nice slow and soothing production here and the lyrics and chorus fit but it just doesn't leave me with same "hit" feeling that sexy love and miss independent did. Those I couldn't get enough of but this, i'll listen to it a few times and be done with it.

To all the people that are saying its boring and generic, Open your music horizons, How can you like Ne-Yo, but not like what tracks hes IN the business for, R&B! (this song in example), Get outta here with the BS, how is this track generic? explain to me, cause i dont get it, I CO-SIGN WITH MH! haha, for all the HaTerZ, this 5 is for you bringin the rating down.
(Well Kayleb101, generic has become a cliched adjective and people been throwin it a little negligently.) I can't figure out when starts the pre-chorus, when does the chorus or the hook, when any of them ends... that's one hell of a good doubt! I mean, that's cuz they are all equally good and very epic. Ne-Yo makes classy and unforgettable tracks with eyes closed. Ain't mad at all for that...
There are very few songs that I dislike from this guy...this one is one of my favorites. His album is dope and I agree with xTrini, Fade into the Background is one of the best songs on his album!
i LOVE Ne-Yo's new CD. this isnt my favorite track, but alike to many songs on the album it's really good. I think he should have picked "Single" as his next his, but this will do
lol @ the haterz comment. cats are abusing that word these days. I like Ne-Yo, I'm just not on the "Ne-Yo is King" bandwagon. This song is one of the skips on his cd. Lie To Me is a damn good track.
He has a good voice but to tell ya'll the truth it sometimes annoyes me, above all in the high notes...This is an excellent slow r&b song, I'm fond of slow songs like this. I guess I'll be listening to it when I'm sad or I wanna relax. Perfect production, good chorus and good lyrics! The best parts of the song are the bridge and the musical part...this last shows how much background music is amazing
Love Ne-Yo! He can go from a hot club record to a slowjam. I have already rated majority of his songs on this site LOL so I dunno have much to say anymore. Good song tho.
im almost in tears...
omg.
ne-yo...
just a footnote: if you would please listen to 'im you' by leona lewis... ne-yo wrote that &
all i can say is 'damn'... damn!
this song is too personal.
i love you, ne-yo.
