While he’s continued to be a regular presence on the guest verse tip, it’s actually been a minute since we’ve heard a solo track from Ne-Yo. (No, I don’t know what happened to The Way You Move either.) But if it takes a partnership with Malibu Red to get some new headlining music from the always smooth crooner, then I’d like to raise a glass and toast to new video Burnin Up. Produced by Stargate, Burnin is an eminently danceable, up tempo jam filled with hand claps and bouncing synths – so it only makes sense that the video features no shortage of beautiful females moving to the music. Speaking of which, Ne-Yo directs his lyrical and vocal prowess towards one lucky lady in particular, turning a chance backstage encounter into the beginnings of a heated affair. Man, the life of a R&B superstar is rough. While there’s still no word on a new album from Ne-Yo, fans can simply “Like” Malibu Red’s Facebook page to cop this en fuego track.

Ne-Yo is capable of much much more musically and this is a dime-a-dozen club-ready R&Pop; record, but good for him on the Malibu Red partnership.

This is going to be a serious club banger. This will be on the radio all the time when everyone catches on. This is a nice track for a pop joint.

This will be a club hit for sure. It may just be me, but I prefer hearing Ne-Yo on hooks instead of full featured tracks.

Despite that Libra Scale crap, Ne-Yo is BACK. This is honestly not as Pop as I was expecting, Ne-Yo still has his smooth harmonies.

Seems, unfortunately, very regular and as somethindg we've all seen before. Despite that, every radio station and club will be playing it anyway.

Tired of this Pop/R&B. What happened to R&B music?

Stargate and Ne-yo go really well together. Ne-yo is the one who's really burnin up right now, but as I have said before, he's just not catching on right now.
As much as I enjoy Stargate there is something missing on the production. Either the lead just isn't powerful enough, or Ne-yo should have filled more of the gaps with his harmonies. I noticed he was cutting them short when he could have extended the vocal harmonies for a little longer. Otherwise, the track is certainly smooth, and the overall production value is still solid. |
