Should you take a listen to NatNaiel‘s first Booth feature? Well, it’s a free country, and you can Do You What You Wanna Do—but if you’re a fan of dope, retro-informed hip-hop, I highly recommend pressing play. The lead buzz single off his forthcoming, DJBooth-hosted project, this newly-released jam finds beatsmith Nicky Nicks flipping a funky, sax-laced sample as the New Jersey representative introduces us to his laid-back rhyme style. While Nat keeps his bars as playfully laissez-faire as the record’s title would suggest, delivering a steady stream of punny punchlines and pop-culture references, he leaves no doubt as to his determination to take over the rap game: “Bet it hurts knowing that I’m too superior / Cats in my way, I’ll X ‘em out—I’m serious.” How about, it Booth readers: does this slice of Pizza leave you hungry for more? If so, you can look forward to eating your fill March 26, when NatNaiel’s GMAD/Earmilk/PNC Radio co-presented EP arrives on our mixtape page for free streaming and download.

Nice vibe, love the live feel thanks to the sax. Nat has a very hip-pop sound, which translates well across platforms. This is the start to something, that is for sure.

Not a huge fan of his flow/delivery but I am really feeling the sax on the beat.

I don't like the old-school flow these days. Not feeling the production either. This is a fail on my ears.
