On Let Nas Down, a standout cut off his freshly-minted sophomore set, J. Cole harked back to 2011, describing his reaction when his musical idol criticized Cole World lead single Work Out. As it turns out, though, Cole had it twisted: far from disappointing the East Coast legend, he’s Made Nas Proud. This special remix of the record, created by Nasir Jones himself, finds the Queensbridge vet jumping on No I.D.‘s sax-laced beat to clarify his prior comments in characteristically poetic fashion: “I get why you said it, radio records are needed / I just wanted to bring a warning, Global warming to that Cold World you was breathing.” On the back, he announces that he’s been “bumping Born Sinner loud.” That’s right: J. Cole’s second album just got a co-sign from one of the greatest to ever pick up the mic. Released last Tuesday via Roc Nation, the project is available now wherever fine music is sold.
