Nas is all about controversy. After “Baracking” the mic on his mixtape jam, Black President, the Brooklyn lyricist is back with Hero, the first official single off his Untitled album. As can be expected, Nas is his typical brutally honest self, cramming a handful of provocative rhymes into every bar with a furious intensity. His three verses are backed by the unlikely production of Polow Da Don, who provides an energetic beat laced with a music box synth dancing above epic drums. While nobody really knows what to expect from Untitled, which drops July 15, songs like Hero indicate that Nasir Jones is once again out for blood. Let’s just hope that the album lives up to all its hype, because the man is already angry enough as it is.

 OH SNAP! Never thought I would see this collab....Nas & Keri Hilson? I actually like the production by Polow da Don. WOW. This is definitely a different type of feel for a Nas track, but I can dig it! I was afraid for a second...I thought he might have messed around and sold out on us. Phew! This is straight. This is the first single though? IDK if this is the best choice, but I like the track. It needs to go back to the mixing boards and Keri Hilson's vocals need to be cleaned up and equalized better.

First i will start by saying i am in no way objective when it comes to Nas after all illmatic and it was written literally changed my life but this here is really well done and is definately a "nas" single that is well done not clubby but something you will enjoy listening so i will sit back and listen to it again and again and again 5 stars

Nas Is coming! You know what to expect from him lyrically, but the production is what impresses us most, Esco. You too great to be rhyming over "ok" beats. Finally we see some real beats 4 the BEST Rapper Alive. (Don't be fooled. yall) This song is triumphant. All we need is God Son to help deliver us from the Voice Box era and challenge the minds of the jaded and faded.

Dubby1, are you serious? Somebody chose the wrong Jones! Thats ridiculous! I know Jim Jones is Ballin, But Nas was giving us coaching at "halftime" since most of Jimmy's fans were crawling. MTV owes Nas and all of Hip Hop an apology for that Bullshit.

I am sick and tired of comparisons being made between Nas and Wayne. Do you all know what Wayne was doing when Nas was releasing Illmatic (possibly the dopest collection of lyrics ever)? Wayne was probably watching Saturday morning cartoons and eating Apple Jacks. C'mon people, enough is enough. You don't need to include Weezy's name if you compliment Nas for being exactly what he always has been... a GREAT lyrical emcee.

First of all Charlie E., Nas is from Queens not Brooklyn. Nas is about to hit em in the head with this. definitely a crossover track that will hit top 40 and all hip hop stations heavy.

DJ Z always speaks the truth (most of the time). No comparison with Wayne, perhaps with BIG, TUPAC, and JAY-Z. Nas is one of the greatest to ever bless the mic. He is still going strong. His longevity as an artist has gone thru the test of time. Not many artists have accomplished that feat. Beat is scrumptious, flow is well-preserved, and Keri is magnificent. This track was ORGANIC!!!

You know what I dislike is they say Nas has only had three (some say two) good albums. Illmatic, Stillmatic, God's Son. It's like they don't even listen to his stuff. Those were the classics and career peaks, but the rest of his stuff was dope too. TheGreatest knows it! Z is right too. I don't how people are comparing the two. Nas is in the dream team of Pac and Big. I think Nas' next classic is coming. BTW, SOMEONE GET THE "BE A N*GGER TOO" VID UP! Just watched it, you can tell how much time was taken into making that. "Chain gleamin', switchin' lanes, two-seatin', hate him or love him, for the same reason/Can't leave it, the game needs, plus the people need someone to believe in/So in Nasir Jones we trust, 'cause they know he's gonna give us what we want, they lookin' for a...."

I'm a little late on the review, but right here we have another Nas classic. I was really surprised to hear him flowing over a Polow beat, but the experiment was a success. As usual Nas brings his A game and I have another favorite song now. By the way the mixtape with Green Lantern came out today and if you haven't got this instant classic yet check it out.

Tight song, no doubt. Two things I would have done are toned down the beat during the hook so you could balance the beat and the lyrics, because the beat is too loud. Also, I would have played the hook again at the end because there is about a minute of just the beat at the end and that always bores me. Coulda been 5 stars, but it's still hot enough to get 4.

The only reason MTV didn't mention NAS is cause he hadn't released a CD... And I think they regret it already... "Like it or not, you ain't gotta cop it".. Every piece fits the song... Wow, this is a BANGER! Straight up, Polow droppin some serious production that is club ready, yet Nas droppin some fire on the lyrics. Might be too commercial for some, but I'm feelin it. I don't think that Keri Hilson was necessary on the hook, but this is a solid single and I'm waiting for what Nas has next. He been in the game for a while and continued to put out quality stuff.
