Nas’s latest album, Untitled, has fallen on hard times. With no definitive second single choice, no videos, and a rapidly-diminishing buzz, Mr. Jones and his label have decided to push Make The World Go Round as the long-awaited follow-up to Hero. Featuring Chris Breezy and The Game, the single boasts big names, but fails to live up to Nas’ past uplifting material—those who were looking for another If I Ruled The World, or even Street Dreams, prepare to be disappointed. Produced by Cool & Dre, this musically voyeuristic track marks the fifth collaboration between the Queensbridge lyricist and Compton’s most suicidal soothsayer. Untitled, Nas’s ninth studio album, was released this past July via Def Jam.
Listen to Nas's Make the World Go Round ft. Chris Brown & The Game More songs from Nas
Easily predictable for a single from this album. With the guest features, it's the most radio appealing track on the album. This song is mad hot, even if Chris Brown sounds out of place on a Nas track. However, Nas and Game's verses make this one a for sure banger. Production is solid and everything fits. This album is so slept on to the general public, that's what makes me love it even more. Banger.
Good song but I don't understand why Nas even has to release singles in the first place. He's never released a radio hit (nothing that's a smash hit at least) and all of his album sales come from fans that have been well established for years. Basically, I don't see Nas getting any new fans (at least not from putting out pop/rap singles). Anyways, his album was easily the best to come out all year and this single, for what it is, is a good track.
I love this song. It just makes me sad that this album wasn't a little more successful because I still think that it is the best Hip-Hop/ Rap album of the year so far, and by far his best work in a long time. This is a good song, but not one of the better ones on the track in my mind.
If Common was Chi-Town's Nas, then The Game is the West Coast's Nas. I was working out and forgot Game was even on the song, he matched Nas so well. If he can keep it up, he could pass Nas. Yes, I do think LAX was better than Untitled.
Absolute banger, I love Cool&Dre;'s production as always (the tempo is really fresh here, very good work with the bass and snapping). The Game and Nas always sound good together and it's kinda funny sometimes it’s hard to tell one from another. I like the chorus just as much as I like the woman throughout the verses, so everything is perfect about this. Classic or not, it deserves 5* PS: I can’t believe DJ Khaled yelled on this track!!! :s lol
I see what you mean DJ J, but actually Untitled was only the second Nas's album I listened in its entirety after Hip Hop is Dead and now I'm a real fan. I believe there’s plenty of room for new Nas fans, but they won’t be getting the “Nas-factor” from the singles I suppose: you gotta listen to the albums.
i've never been a "die-hard" nas fan or nothing.. his songs are usually a HIT or MISS for me.. this one though, i like it, but i wouldnt listen to it more than.. once a week?
ehhhh thiz isnt one of ma favorite Nas trackz, ive heard betta from him. itz aight but yeah probably wont lis-n to it again. ma fav track of all time from him iz "Shine" wow that track might be a lil old but itz hella tight! n-e-way...o yeah, chris beezy wuz gud but ive heard betta from him also.
chris brown sounds outaplace!!! tu b honist i dont get th buzz around nas!!! i think he just says some things that get some atention (hip hop is dead) i dont get what makes him gud
I assume everyone has heard this song by now. This is my least favorite song on the album. Its still cool though. By the way. IF you don't have Untitled! Go buy it!
I've had this on my iPod for a long time now. This aint the best on Untitled but its still solid. With a lineup like Nas, Game, and Chris Brown it underperformed but its still pretty good. Game was average, Nas was solid and Breezy provided a good r&b smooth feel to the song. And you know your getting solid production from one of the elite producers in Cool & Dre. This is a banger!!
Not even close to some of the best songs on the album, but as many have pointed out an easy choice as the single. The video has already been shot and should be premiering soon. As for the record itself, Nas comes correct, and Game sounds great too. Breezy, however, is out of place. There is a laundry list of R&B singers who could have rocked this better. Anthony Hamilton? Joe? Jon B.?
I predicted in my review of this (that was published on a full length page in my college newspaper this past month) would be the next single. It only makes sense since it contains two heavyweight featured artists. I guess I'll post any excerpt from the review on what I said about this track [P.S: Don't get pissed about long posts...I just like to speak my mind. "Tis better to have too much to say than nothing to say at all"...I just made that up...hot huh? Anyways: Moving on, you are definitely in for a treat when you embark on “Make the World Go Round (feat. Chris Brown & The Game)”. I was surprised to hear Chris Brown on a Nas album, but the combination was an excellent choice nevertheless. It was definitely an expansion of the subject matter of tracks that Chris usually hops on or presents as a solo artist. Nas was good, but didn’t really stand out on the first verse. I really liked the lyrical delivery presented by The Game. By the second verse, I feel Nas stepped up. I especially value and respect how he alluded to the success of current new school artists we refer to as “ringtone rappers” and how he still commends them for doing what they do, because they are nevertheless grinding, just like the pioneers of hip hop were at one point. The only differences is that times and eras have changed and it takes more time and negative energy to come against it, rather than just to embrace it, or even simply have a tolerance. It’s very interesting that Nas touched on this concept, noting that his last album was “Hip Hop is Dead” and he was the main reason for all this recent up rise of a death of real hip hop and the things like that, yet now he becomes a voice for them as well. This is sort of similar to the main character of my favorite novel “Ender’s Game” by Orson Scott Card, where Ender leads the fleet to destroy the species and entire planet of fictional insectoid alien species called the Formics or Buggers informally. Ultimately after being their supposed xenocide (a slang term derived from said publication referring to an act of killing off an entire species), he understood them afterwards and became a speaker/voice for their concepts of life and reasoning. That in itself is a very interesting and conflicting light of Nas. Aside from all of that, on another note, I won’t be supposed if this will be a single from the album, since the two featured artists are high profile and a Cool and Dre joint. They definitely did their thing on the production. I love how he called Chris Brown “the young Mike Jackson”. Everyone knows Chris Brown is the closest thing we have to a new version of Michael Jackson, and that’s including his style, talent and ambition. I give this track 4/5 overall. That's just my two cents...and then some.
I have never heard his album so I can't compare this song to others...talking about singles, Hero was better for sure in my opinion! I'm feeling also this song, though. I really like the production, but as some of you wrote, Chris Brown sounds out of place here. Nas is one of my favourite rappers and he alone makes almost always a song become a banger. The Game is good, too! But Chris Brown is more suitable for his genre, that is r&b songs...here he makes the track too "soft" and also a lil boring, as the hook repeats itself to infinity. 3,5
Ps: I'm sorry if my feedbacks are not so good to read but it's difficult for me to express everything I think in English
This song is quite old dj booth not even worth the update...Even though its an pretty decent song i still dont think i should be put out since its quite old...
chris brown is annoying on this track and seems unnecessary. i dont liek the beat. nas was decent but thats all that was decent to me. 2 stars for nas.
I'm feeling this one. Not your usual Nas, but everything is fire! A song like this should have perhaps featured Common. Lyrics are what saves this track though. I'm just saying.
It's a cool song and everything ,but I don't think it will be all that great on the radio. Nas just isn't a radio single kind of guy. Nas and The Game both put out good rhymes for the song, though. As far as Chris Brown goes, Nas probably just got him for name value.
I ACTUALLY QUITE LIKE THIS FROM NAS,HE CANT KEEP DUIN STREET MATERIAL AND HOOD SONGS FOREVER DIFFRENT TOPIC AND SUITS HIM WELL TOOK ME AWHILE TO GROW ON ME BUT I LIKE THIS ONE HEAPS NOW,C.BROWN WIT GAME ADDS THE PERFECT TOUCH!!!"UR BEST SUCCESS IS MY WORST BLUNDER"
i have no idea what that review is saying, what are you talking about when you say this fails to live up to Nas past material. This is deffinetly a banger. At no point is a dissapointment
This song is pretty good and the production is solid! This definitely isn't one of Nas' best, but it's still a banger. Nas and Game killed this, but Chris Breezy sounds awkward on this track. I agree with DJ Z: there are so many other singers who could have done this track better.
Another Nas hit. Its not as gud as his other songs but dis does it. Chris sounds out of place. not so great lol. but besides Game does his thang and da track is a (u guessed it) a banga!!
yeah im really digging this one it has like a kinda excited
theme to it im saying the background like he happy, or he having a good life yeah this is cool!!!
